Between Nairalist And [nairalist+s] by fatherab1: 8:01am On Mar 26, 2009 |
I am surprised that another website that looks exactly like Nairalist which happens to be called [nairalist+s] [exists]. Why on earth should some-one nest his own idea under the shadow of another person's idea? Why can't they form theirs using a totaly different name to create their unique brand? After browsing through that (counterfeit?) site, I came to terms with the fact that there are some feautures that it possesses that the real one doesnt have. 1. Nairalist seem to carry the philosophy of Nairaland. Its like a mordified and simplified Nairaland. Whereas [nairalist+s] carries the Nigerian spirit. It bears our National Flag. Can you imagine? 2. Another issue is that the real Nairalist covers the states of nigeria while the counterfeit site (Niralists) covers Africa. These are just 2 of my observations. I am placing them here so that the webmasters (whoever they are) can look into them and try to put them into consideration. |

Of course I do. I was only asking the guy to really know what he thinks. He was saying something like nairalist should look and see what [nairalist+s] has done. So I was pissed off and decided to know his stand. Well, that site [[nairalist+s]] is just a total copy and paste. |

Compare any section on [nairalist+s] with any section on Nairalist. It's just copy and paste. |

this is very unfortunate and is the reason nigeria wont go anywhere anytime soon. How do you protect copyright? |

He needn't do copy and paste all the time. Just some few classes can do that. Once there is any post on nairalist, it will automatically appear on his as well. Since there is nothing dealing with login on the nairalist website for members, he can through his admin panel also delete or decide to leave whatever he wishes. All these, not just healthy for programmers. Why not we develop more ideas and work them out. If he had done better customizations, I don't think anyone will be talking on this issue. Copyrights is what we should think about how to promote and make functional. Only with due permissions for usage or nothing else, not ban now but the law boomerangs. |

It has been a while since I have been to Nairalist. Looks very, very good now. Seun, I still think you should consider making the search easier by creating sub categories. Right now it does not seem like a problem, however when you have hundred of thousands of listings, it is going to be a problem wading through all of them. |
