This is a private driven initiative by Shell. It's part of the coy's CSR. You may ask, why only 3 states?
That's where their money comes out from, Shell to the best of my knowledge doesn't drill in Akwa Ibom state, so it's illogical to extend the programme to citizens of the state. That's ExxonMobil's job.

The Niger Delta region deserves every benefit that comes from the O&G coy's. It's their land, their benefit.

We got 750k to start or expand our businesses. It came in 2 tranches, first 500k and then 250k. They also have an incubator on the island. Our set will end this October since we start last year (incubation is for a year). There are bigger peeks after the one year, like 3k pounds, sponsorship to a training in UK etc but not everyone gets that.
