The Yobe State Police Command on Thursday paraded three men alleged to be members of a syndicate engaged in the printing and sale of fake police recruitment forms in the State.
Parading the suspects before newsmen in Damaturu, the State capital, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Toyin Gbadegesin, said the command was tipped-off about the practice, following which it cautioned the public through local media to disregard any recruitment forms being circulated.

“But these three young men have been violating such directive as they have been printing and selling fake recruitment forms in their various cyber café to ignorant applicants,” the PPRO said.

He explained that the suspects had violated section 97, sub-section 364 of the penal code law of Nigeria and will be charged to court after due investigations.

Gbadegesin stated that the suspects operated a cyber café in Potiskum, the commercial center of the State, exploiting innocent job seekers who are desperate to join the Nigeria Police Force.

Mohammed Kabir, one of the suspects, while narrating his side of the story, said that as a cyber-operator, he prints various forms for different categories of people upon their request.

He said on that faithful day, some job seekers came to him with the website address, and that he ignorantly went to the site and printed the said form. Two days later, he said, he was arrested.

The suspect said he was not aware of any earlier announcement made on local media cautioning against the printing and sale of the recruitment form and had only done so as a cyber café operator who undertakes printing for people from different websites.

Also recently, the Yobe Police command paraded seven robbery suspects alleged to have been carrying out robbery operations along the Nguru-Kano road, dispossessing travelers of their valuables.
