The Nigerian Army on Wednesday released 128 detainees after certifying that they had no link with the Boko Haram terrorists group in Borno.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai handed over the detainees to Gov. Kashim Shettima at a ceremony in Maiduguri.

He said that the detainees included 109 men, seven women, 11 boys and one unattached teenager.

He said that they were arrested at different parts of the state by the military in its anti-terrorism campaign.

Buratai said that after thorough screening by a team of military intelligence officers, the police and the Department of State Security Service (DSS), the suspects were found to be clean and were released.

“The task of Operation Lafiya Dole can be seen in three terms – to defeat the insurgents, to facilitate humanitarian activities and observe human right and restore the administrative functions in the liberated area.

“We are here to formally hand over those arrested in the process of our operations; we are pleased to hand over the 128 suspects that have been cleared by the joint intelligent core, which comprised the Army, the police and DSS,” he said.

The COAS said that the action was an indication that the military was made up of highly trained officers, who believed in observing human right.

“This is clear manifestation that the army is clearly professional,” Buratai declared and expressed optimism that the Boko Haram terrorism would soon come to an end.

“We will continue to emphasis that this terrorism will soon come to an end.

“We have been supported by President Muhammadu Buhari; we are getting more equipment and we are getting more of our troops redeployed to the operation,” he said.

He commended the Borno government for its support for the military in the anti-terrorism war.

The military had, earlier on July 6, freed 182 suspects, after a team of investigators cleared them of involvement with the group.

Do you want them to detain those who know nothing about it, before they released them wouldn't they have carried out necessary investigation...

Lets ask ourselves some discerning questions

Apart from Bokoharam members killed in active service, has any captured BH member been tried and sentenced?

Who declared these released suspects not guilty and where are the guilty ones?

What plans does Buhari have for the guilty Bokoharam members?... At least Chad has been prosecuting them

Why was Zakari Biu re-instated back into the police force after obvious ties with the BH terror sect under Buhari?

Why has Shekau not released any videos attacking Buhari like he did under GEJ?

Why did Buhari make a sudden turn to claim that Chibok girls have all been married out to Bokoharam members yet the military claim to have conquered BH ... so where are the girls?

Why is the north not blaming Buhari for not finding Chibok girls as promised? What is Oby Ezekwesili's comment after being told the Chibok girls have been married out?... Why the sudden silence?

Why is Borno state governor always in a haste to give out gifts to Chibok parents?.. Is it meant meant to be a compensation for their kids or for some other sinister motives?

Have anyone thought why Buhari only gives press releases to BBC hausa... Never NTA, channels, AIT etc knowing fully well that Nigeria is a secular state with English as its Lingua franca?

sad

The uselessness of this Burukutu sipping burantashi kunu drunk dullard government is now repaying the youth wing of APC a.k.a Boko Haram for their efforts in destabilizing the honest government of our hero, GEJ.

May nemesis catch up with Beremx, Obiagelli and Demdem for supporting this kunu drunk.

Honestly, sentiment is turning us into advanced hypocrites in this Country. When robbers are arrested, we are quick to shout "They are innocent". Now innocents are released and we are already wailing that they are Boko Haram. To satisfy Nigerians, u have to cure them of sentiment first.
No wonder Amnesty International keep having problem with us. SMH

This might not be a good prayer, but I pray one day you would have one or more of your family members arrested in a police sweep operation and eventually executed for something they know nothing about.

Then surely, you would remember this your very 'wise' statement made on this 10th day of September in 2015.
