Biafra Will Be Totally Different From Nigeria. Here's How! by carnegiefan: 4:30am On Sep 11, 2015
This is in response to several threads here that question how Biafra can be different from Nigeria. Some of the threads are from people with genuine concerns and real questions, while others are of malicious intent. I created this thread to present my idea of what Biafra will look like, and by doing so show that Nigeria can NEVER offer such to we Biafrans. I am open to be proven wrong.

These are MY ideas and none else's.

Thanks for reading and please prove me wrong if you can!

Preamble: The write up assumes that Biafra will be obtained peacefully, and if so, there will be a revolution immediately inside Biafra that will cleanse the land of "Nigerian" politicians. If obtained by war, those "Nigerian" politicians will not survive if they remain corrupt during that war.
They are advised to either repent and seek the interest of their people, or pay dearly. cool

Details:

Territory:

SE/SS/Parts of Benue State. All determined at LGA level via referendum.

Government System:
Multi-party parliamentary system. Administrative areas of autonomous communities. No states.

National Development Philosophy:
Peace, tranquility, serenity, security, through justice to all

Goal:
Create a developed economy where every citizen and resident is free, has access to world class health facilities, jobs paying livable wages, peace, and security of life and property.

Objectives:
Build a $2 Trillion economy within 2 decades by investing massively in the following fields:-

-Human capital development through qualitative education at all levels
-Research & development in science and technology/innovation/intellectual property
-Boost Agriculture by way of grants (local and foreign)
-Boost private industry by way of grants (local and foreign)
-Mineral resource development
-Commerce -world class malls and export processing zones.
-5 international airports
-4 seaports

National Human Relations Philosophy: Be the change that you desire!

Religion: Mosques are banned. lol grin

Culture: Every autonomous community in Biafra shall be encouraged to preserve, enhance and maintain its culture. Each shall receive annual government grants to develop and sustain its culture.
Biafra is a multi-lingual nation with similar cultural practices on several levels.
The government grant shall be conditioned on practical demonstration of results showing positive outcomes. Example, Osu caste system should be finally deleted from our national socio-cultural and religious consciousness such that the practice will finally die a natural death within a generation. (+-40 years).

Linguistics: A new national language shall be developed by Biafran linguists who will develop it from all Biafran languages. That language shall be the official language, and be used for formal business. The introduction of a new language will be slow but deliberate, to the complete within a generation (+-40 years).

Law/Law Enforcement Philosophy:
Every citizen of Biafra is equal before the law. Biafra shall know no king, or noble; chieftancy titles and other inordinate titles, e.g. multiplicity of titles shall be banned in Biafra because they form the root cause of corruption in current Nigeria.
There shalll be two police formations; armed SWAT, and unarmed general police. 98% of police men and women will be unarmed; SWAT will make up about 2%.
The strategy for arrest and taking into custody of errant citizen shall be by use of overwhelming numbers of police. For example, a band of 50 police men may be dispatched to arrest one individual depending on the dangers associated with the situation. The police will be required to train and perfect the skills of martial arts to enable its members to disarm lightly armed member of the public, i.e. individual armed with a knife, a club, all other non-firearm weapons. Incidence involving firearms will attract the SWAT team who will shoot to disarm the armed citizen. A shoot- to- kill order shall be issued only by the top commanding officer of the SWAT, and only after all disarming efforts has failed.
Shooting a Biafran citizen to death will always attract full independent investigation conducted by a separate body irrespective of the law enforcement situation. All incidence leading to the unlawful death of a Biafran citizen or resident shall attract a maximum sentence of life in prison without the option of parole. There shall be no death penalty in Biafra. Our ancestors never practiced it and we must end it.

National Defence:
Biafra shall maintain a small highly trained, highly mobile professional military of about 50,000.
Citizens of Biafra who attain the voting age of 18 must undergo a compulsory 2 years military training in any of the armed forces; army, air force, or navy. Biafran annual defense budget will be about 2% of the national GDP. In designing the cities, defence and access to defence materials should be considered such that citizen force can quickly access weapons/military facility in times of foreign invasions.

International Relations/ Diplomacy:
Biafra shall maintain a small number of diplomatic missions abroad. In Africa, the missions shall be 12 total in the following countries: (West Africa) Ghana, Cote D'Ivoire, Cameroon. (Southern Africa) SA, Mozambique, Angola. (East Africa) Kenya, Ethiopia. (North Africa) Egypt, Morocco. (Central Africa) Gabon, Congo DRC. Depending on how Nigeria behaved on our way to freedom, we shall decide whether we need an embassy in Abuja. Missions in other countries will be predicated on common sense; eg, Biafra will have only one embassy in the entire former Soviet republics and Eastern Europe -in Moscow, Russia. (North America) Biafra will maintain about three diplomatic missions in the US alone -there are about 2 million Biafrans in the US. (The Middle East) Israel. (Far East) Japan, South Korea, China, Malaysia, and India. South America Brazil. Europe UK, Germany, France, maybe Italy.

Built Environment:
Biafran cities shall be designed to be world class by teams of architects/landscape architects (for cityscapes), urban planners (for layout designs, zoning/planning), civil engineers (for underground drainages and sewer systems), transportation planners and engineers (for modern road/rail/waterways transport systems). The goal of the professionals will be to achieve serenity, peace, sanity, and freshness that nurture the innovative mind.

Healthcare:
Biafra shall develop a world-class health infrastructure that ensures that all Biafrans receive the best health care available worldwide. Biafrans already produces some of the best doctors in Africa, and Biafran doctors are currently in many countries of the world. World renowned doctors/specialists will be encouraged to partner with Biafran doctors/specialists/hospitals and biotech companies to create a holistic robust health care sector. Oversea travels for health care will be rendered irrational because for a fraction of the cost, citizens can get same world class care in Biafraland.

Industry:
This sector is one of the three (the other two being agriculture and commerce) sectors that must provide the constitutionally required employment for all. Biafra will go into production of everything possible, from light industrial materials already being produced in Biafra, to heavy industrial ones such as automobile, aircraft design/production, computer hardware/software, military hardware development, ship building, construction equipment development, agricultural equipment manufacturing. Biafra will seek to develop and participate in technological/innovation competitions abroad as part of strategy to refine skills, discover and nurture talents in the field of manufacturing and industry.

Agriculture:
Biafra will adopt effective strategies by ways of training and adopting best agricultural practices for food and agro-allied sectoral development. Biafran experts will go to Israel, South Africa, US, Malaysia, and Brazil to train and partner with farmers in those countries. This sector is expected to provide jobs at all times for Biafran citizens and residents.

Commerce:
This sector will provide an opportunity for rapid transformation of the Biafran economy because the sector already controls a huge chunk of the economy. All it takes is an ingenious input by a civilized and organized government to infuse it with the necessary international partnerships to boost it. Markets will be transformed to international trading/export centers, while malls will spring up in places of current markets. Flea markets will be designed for international tourists to buy African curios, paintings, and Africa themed movies.

Oil and Gas:
Biafra will gradually phase out export of oil and gas, except exports to strategic friends of Biafra which shall continue or even be expanded. The whole idea of a rapid economic development for Biafra assumes that this sector will be exploited mainly for support to the key sectors of the economy -industry, agriculture, and commerce – as part of the main goal of the economy -jobs for all.

To arrive at a possibility of $2 T GDP in 2 decades, I assumed a current GDP of about $100 Billion, plus an annual infusion of about $20Billion from abroad, plus a growth of at least 10% annually.
Still crunching my numbers. grin

Thanks bro. I honestly believe that Biafra will be totally different from Nigeria. In fact it is self evident.
I am inspired by my conviction that Nigeria can NEVER EVER offer us same opportunity for peace and development.

Sports:
Biafra shall aim to dominate African sports, and the track and fields Olympic games events.
Jamaica, a country of 2.9 million people populated by peoples whose ancestors left our shores do it already. We can do much much better.

In fact Biafra shall develop Rugby, America football, Boxing, Baseball, and basketball, such that Biafran athletes will find their ways into top leagues in the world. That is a money spinner for the country. We are sitting on a goldmine there!

Biafra will be the real Giant of Africa and the black race .

The best footballers and coaches will be from Africa, the best movie actors, movies producers and movies retailers will be from biafra.

Biafra will have the best and fastest growing economy in Africa courtesy of a very good skilled economic team.
The best music producers and entertainers, the best sports men will be from biafra.

I also see a high academic standard and products.

Biafra might be multi lingual French and English afraid biafra might not be a member of the common wealth or Ecowas

@ OP, I respect many aspects of your summation of this would-be great nation, Biafra, but let me state areas in which I disagree with you and other proponents of Biafra of "non-old Eastern region".

1. Biafra should be SE+SS (minus Edo, for the area of Auchi in Edo is highly islamic).

2. All parts of Benue should be excluded, even Idoma as you have muslims amongst them.

3. The Police in Biafra MUST bear arms, as we will be surrounded by enemies on all sides of our border,,,,,it's like saying the Israeli police shouldn't carry guns. What happens if a terrorist sneak into our territory, what should we do? The street police should be enabled to deal with such threat before the SWAT guys arrive.

4. I addittion to countries listed, Biafra must maintain FULL and DIRECT diplomatic relations with Haiti, Tanzania, Zambia, Cote'd Voir, and Gabon, for these were the countries that stood by us during our darkest period.

5. Finally, I like the idea of 2yr-compulsory military service for every citizen of Biafra 18yr+. I wouldn't even mind legalizing guns for every Biafran ONLY, but not for immigrants. I also think the ideal Biafran military force should be made up of 500,000 personnel.

I will love to add. Biafra will be a small country, which will be an asset on its own because developing it will be very easy.

We should use tunnel system of transporting goods. This tunnel system will pass through all the local governments, so that goods imported or manufactured from other parts of the country will be gotten in due time and need for trailers will be drastically reduced.

My proposal about the health sector is this. I want us to create a health system which will be world class. We can even use it as a means of foreign exchange. We will build in such a way that, people will see it as a place where all your sickness will be treated. There will world class machines and environment for this sector.

I support the proposal that oil and gas should at first not be exported for obvious reasons. We should use it develop the system first before allowing anyone to export. Its very important. The craze for oil is too much and we shouldn't allow that in the new country.

I believe Biafra have many genius and extremely intelligent people outside our shores. We should allow them come and teach the younger ones ICT. I think ICT is the future and if we can robustly develop the knowledge in our coming generation, oh! We will beat anyone.

Biafra will stop treating commerce like the way they're doing now. Biafra will set up agencies that will research on growing businesses in the world and industries. This will enable them advice prospective business starters about the dangers of the businesses and also the gain. This will reduce the risk prospective business owner will encounter when they delve into the particular business.

Biafra will not wait for westerners to build industries. We should develop the culture of build, develop and sell. This will make foreign investors see the business as an already growing business and see reasons to buy and develop it more. This will enable us employ our people and moreso, gain from the sale.

Many Biafrans will love to come home when the time comes, so we should be able to provide accommodation for the large number of people that will troop in. I propose a housing formular where most housing estates will not be less than 8 storey buildings. We're more than our land can carry plus agriculture and industry. Its important we plan that aspect before we continue anything.

I don't think we should wait till the actualisation before kick-start this venture because the reason why people are still finding it difficult is that they've not seen laid down amenities that will give them the enabling environment to come home. I will to propose what is called "diaspora tax system". This system of taxation will be mild and will not affect you in anyway but if full participation is seen, the result will be astronomic in our chase for enabling environment. The money gotten from this tax system will be used separately but with state government approval to start developing the region drastically. We will use trusted people. And see this projects come to life. We can also adopt the BOT (build, operate and transfer) method. This will make the region stand before we make it standard!

My humble submission.

This is one of the three major things that will ensure Biafra greatness!

A revolution can occur in Biafra, but never in Nigeria. Because Biafrans are a nation United by shared beliefs, culture, tradition, linguistics, religion, and political ideologies. These are things Nigeria can never have, and the exact reason why she can never shake off her bad leaders via revolution.

Only a nation can do a revolution, Nigeria is not a nation.

God bless Biafra.

Lol! Yorubas are the only group in Africa that can match and even outdo Biafrans if they put their mind into it , Oodua country has the potential to match and even outrun Biafra in human development indices.

But the problem is that they are too obsessed with the Igbo man progress, that they often lose sight of the big picture, which is the fact that stopping the Igbo man progress, will not make them progressive. They can only progress by working on their own progress, without minding whatever the Igbo man is doing.

I know they have the intellectual power to do things but they have become lazy over time. They have started becoming too dependent on the state and that's not good for a people who will want future development.

The yoruba people have a lot of intelligent people amongst them, so if they can sit down and see the importance of the cocoa, bitumen, gold and access to the sea. They can actually grow. But the problem is, they've grown weak and they just want sit down and do nothing about their freedom.

No doubt, no ethnic group will suffer when secession comes. I foresee the yorubas doing well on their own rather than this unholy union. They should start seeking independence, it will help their people more so that they can fully develop the potential of their land.

Nigerians don't have the technical know-how to hold a population of 170million. The number of people that will continue to suffer will continue to increase. We keep lying to ourselves that we're blessed with natural resources. The natural resources deposits cannot develop a people of 170million. So, its better they find solution to their future now.

Nnamdi was really motivated but like the bad boy that he is, he started dreaming of how to show off to his friend Wale who lives around the corner and rides an old rickety bicycle . He said he would ride the bike at great speed towards Wale's house, then swerve, do lots of stunts, raise dusts and scare everyone shopping at Wales mum's kiosk just in front of the house. His dad delivered a blinding slap and shouted at him.

"Idiot do you want to spoil the bicycle, onye iberibe".

You might have heard or read this story/joke I'm different forms.

I see lots of stunts and raising of dusts here. They are not necessary.
It's nice to dream but what stops us from putting into practice all the beautiful dream listed in the post?

What stops the execution of the Agric project? Trailers loads of tomatoes and all types of vegetables keep coming from the north that many people speak ill against, cattle, goats etc. what stops us putting into practice all the beautiful town planning and survey plans listed here. Are we going to wait till all the available spaces have been turned to another onitsha? Do you think it'll be possible to start smashing and demolishing buildings like mr Kanu has been saying? Don't we have an El rufai to sort the land and survey issues once and for all?

Apart from the defence part of the post, most of the things enumerated are achievable if done right and within Nigeria. You don't need Biafra to achieve those. We can build and manage highly efficient and advanced healthcare system by building hospitals with state of the art equipment and the personnel to manage them. Why not start now.

Why not encourage and sponsor sports and youth development. Do we have to wait Biafra comes before we do that?....

Youths would be actively involved in all sector unlike Nigeria where youths ar relegated while the old greedy politicains keep on looting the national treasure. why can't the biafarans change their region right now? why can't they have the world best healthcare system through the state govt or even through private sector.
why can't they have private military companies that manufactured world class hardware that is exported everywhere.
why not have world class private schools that would attract the rest of African...

if you really want to successful as a country, better start now, start now by properly managing the resources that are already there, you don't have to create a physical boundary for your minds to open up and start doing things differently, it's a state of mind, biafara can exist right now if all of you can imagine it, so start developing now..... but if you are waiting for some revolution, then some referendum to start developing.... you will wait for generations to come

This is an old argument I am already bored of. I Might as well grow grey hairs explaining these over and over again on this board.

The summary of all is that Nigeria is not a nation, and will never be one. It takes a nation to achieve those things Carnegiefan listed, not all nations can achieve them, but no non nation like Nigeria have any chance of achieving that.

It doesn't matter if you think those Biafran dreams can be achieved in Nigeria, what matters is that those who designed those dreams believe and know it can only work in Biafra, a true nation.

I especially like the part of 2yrs compulsory millitary service for every Biafran and after the Millitary service the soldier can go home with their arms.

thats how to guarantee defence from external agression like is done in switzerland.

It is said that this is the reason why Germany or France refused to invade switzerland during the world war cos the entire population of switzerland is heavily armed.

This is also the same reason America is very powerful and why any Saudi Attempt to Invade yemen will be suicide.

Cos the large part of yemenis are heavily armed
