Reminds me of a story I read on Ghanaweb where the preacher said he would walk on water like Jesus Christ.



"African Evangelist drowns walking on water

An evangelist who tried replicating Jesus' miracle of walking on water has reportedly drowned off the western coast of Africa.

Pastor Franck Kabele, 35, told his congregation he could repeat the biblical miracle, and he attempted it from a beach in Gabon's capital of Libreville.

"He told churchgoers he'd had a revelation that if he had enough faith, he could walk on water like Jesus," an eyewitness told the Glasgow Daily Record.

"He took his congregation to the beach saying he would walk across the Komo estuary, which takes 20 minutes by boat. He walked into the water, which soon passed over his head and he never came back.""

It's interesting how many people want to prove themselves to be greater than their calling. Reminds me of the popular Daniel of Ibadan who dared the lions and ended up as a snack in their mouth!

How about the Church here in America where the members work themselves into a frenzy then bring out poisonous rattlesnakes believing that afterall the Bible says they shall handle snakes and it shall not harm them.
Some have been maimed and some died in the process.

Well, these cases go to show that the proponents have no revelation of God's Word and only oushed their own agenda to disastrous ends. Lord have mercy!

Woman bitten by snake at church dies

She said she was bitten by a snake at her church A London woman is dead after being bitten by a snake during a Sunday church service, the Laurel County Sheriff's Office said yesterday.

Neighbors near East London Holiness Church on Smith Brewer Road, which officials said the 48-year-old attended, said the church practices serpent handling.

The name of the woman was withheld yesterday as the Laurel County Sheriff's Office investigated the death, which police described as accidental.

Friends escorted the woman to a local hospital Sunday afternoon, Lt. Ed Sizemore said.

'She said she was bitten by a snake at her church,' Sizemore said.

The woman was taken to University of Kentucky Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 11:30 p.m., almost four hours after the bite was reported.

Sizemore said he thinks the woman was bitten by a timber rattlesnake. He did not know if the woman practiced snake handling.

Snake handling is based on a passage in the Bible, in the Gospel of Mark, that says a sign of a true believer is the power to 'take up serpents' without being harmed.

It is illegal in Kentucky to handle reptiles as part of religious services. Snake handling is a misdemeanor and punishable by a $50-$100 fine.

Opal Wagers lives near the church on Smith Brewer Road and said it's been two or three months since she last visited the church, but said she's witnessed snake handling there.

'I don't have no dealings with those snakes,' Wagers said. 'But they seem to handle them pretty good.'

She said people fill the church at least one Sunday each month to handle snakes. Wagers said members from Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia bring in the snakes.

Police said they had not received reports about snake handling at the church.

No church officials could be reached for comment last night.

In 2000, the Herald-Leader reported that the last person to die in Kentucky from a snakebite sustained during a religious service was in 1997.

The death of Daril R. Collins, 23, of Barbourville, was the sixth such death in the state since 1980.

I read this book "Heaven Is So Real" by Choo Nam Thomas.  I think she's a Chinese convert.  As soon as I started reading the book alarms went off in my spirit. 

In her book she claims that Jesus himself came to her and took her to visit heaven over 17 times.  Nothing wrong with that.

But this is what disturbed me, as well as many others who read the book.

1.  Jesus never identified Himself as Messiah, Saviour or Jesus Christ, only "her Lord"
2.  Each visit by this spirit to her manifested in the violent shaking of her body for over 20 minutes at a time
3.  She claims that during her preparation for ministry, Jesus was "preparing" her by shaking her body violently
     for more than 2 hours at a time.  During which certain parts of her body would "lock" then "unlock"
4.  During the preparation she claims that while Jesus was in her room, she also saw demons surrounding him,
     and whe SHE rebuked them they departed.
5.  She preaches that no one is sure of their salvation
6.  She preaches salvation through works.
7.  She claims that Jesus said that he doesn't like people who do not tithe.
8.  She says that Jesus says that he will take the lives of the unsaved so that His name will be glorified.
9.  She repeatedly quotes Jesus as favouring her above all others, and choosing her for end time work
10.  She claims that there is a " barren land" between heaven and hell for "disobedient" christians.

There are so many more anomalies. Too many to mention. But she also claims that Jesus took her to a room, like a warehouse
where there were millions of aborted babies lined up to be collected by their mothers if they make it to heaven. Also, she claims that she and Jesus barbcued fish in heaven, and she and Jesus ate fish together. She says she saw the angel Gabriel, and he's the most angel. He's white with blond hair and blue eyes.

She also claims Jesus came to her on the day before christmas in a beautiful gown and crown and when she asked him why he said he was celebrating his birthday.

She claims that Jesus taught her a spritual dance. In this dance you have to move your hands in a certain way 7 times, etc etc. She started doing this dance by the "spirit" during a church service and the pastor rebuked her.

She says that Jesus was displeased with the pastor and that he will no longer bless that church. She claims that Jesus then instructed her to go TELL the pastor that she WILL be performing the dance on the platform at a particular time.

I found this book distrubing on many levels.

In her online video she says that she has to keep rocking from side because of the "spirit" inside her.  If she sits still her stomach clenches? 

I wish that more people here could read this book and tell me what they think if it's available in Nigeria.  People are debating it all over the net.  I've read where some people say it has caused family members to doubt their very salvation, and others to become depressed.

The thing is it's sugar coated with the gospel of salvation, so people are buying into it. But their are so many underlying deceptions and it's very very subtle.
