Dear all, I'm having a challenge with my computer. Its an old HP Compaq 6510b laptop. This is the issue. I once passworded the BIOS/CMOS setup. I'm sure you know what I mean. I have racked my brain all through today to remember the password but no success. I've done some googling but no solution yet. Please friends, how can I clear or reset the BIOS password? I need to change some BIOS settings so as to enable me run an android emulator. Thanks for the feedback.

Enter a wrong password a few times until you get a message that says "System Disabled" or something similar. A hash code will be displayed along with that message. Provide the hash code and I will try to get you the master password.

Thank you so much sir. I have entered wrong password countless times but it does not give any hash code. It just keeps telling me password not correct. Nothing else is shown and then I restart it again

Have you tried removing the CMOS battery?

- Disconnect the charger, remove the laptop battery, disassemble the laptop and locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard and remove it too.
- Press and hold the power button for about 10 secs to remove any residual power.
- After about five minutes, reinstall the CMOS battery and reassemble the laptop. Connect only the charger. Leave out the laptop battery.
- Power on the laptop.
- All CMOS settings should have been cleared, including the password.

compaq 6510B or 6710b uses the same motherboard and this type of boards like uses a bios thats very secure,u have a simple OS in the bios that enable youdo some level of customization at the professional level.For the password to be removed you have to reload the os in the bios with specialist too, if you dont want to do that, buy a bad motherboard and replace the bios for complete remover of password maing sure too that motherboard bios is not also passworded.
