he Association of Fulani Chiefs and the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria have said a former Secretary of the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, was not kidnapped by genuine Fulani herdsmen.

MACBAN, therefore, faulted the pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, for calling for the expulsion of Fulani herdsmen from the South-West.

The Chairman of MACBAN, Ondo State chapter, Bello Garba, said this during a press conference in Lagos.

Garba admitted that Fulani herdsmen usually encroached on farms but argued that no Fulani herdsman would abandon his cattle and go about abducting people.

He said, “We’ve been relating with security agencies and we have never had any issue with residents before. The disagreement with farmers has been ongoing for sometime but we have mediated and settled it on several occasions.

“Most of the Fulani people that came into Ondo came in as cattle breeders and you don’t expect them to just leave their animals and be kidnapping. We have been residing in Ondo State for more than 100 years and no one has ever accused us of any heinous crime in Ondo State or caught us with weapons.

“As an Ondo resident, I condemn this act. Clearly, this is impersonation. We live with our families in Ondo. How can we engage in such an act? We are pleading with law enforcement agents to do more investigation and expose the real perpetrators.”

Also speaking, the Sarkin Fulani of Lagos, Alhaji Mohammed Bambado, said it will not be in the interest of the Yoruba or Nigerians to denigrate cattle breeders at a time Nigeria was trying to diversify its economy and make agriculture more attractive.

Bambado reminded the Afenifere that expelling Fulani indigenes from the South-West was in contravention of the African Union charter.

He said, “Need we remind our brothers (Afenifere) of the African Union and ECOWAS charters that give people and animals, particularly, livestock free movement within and across international borders of West African states. Such calls and actions are in direct breach of a number of international treaties and obligations regarding the free movement of persons and animals.

“Banning the movement of cattle from one part of Nigeria to another also violates the constitution of Nigeria on the freedom of movement of people and livestock. It also amounts to ethnic profiling of the nomadic Fulani.”

He, however, called on the Afenifere to join hands with the Fulani to find a lasting solution to the encroachment of herdsmen on farmlands.

The Sarkin Fulani, Abeokuta, Alhaji Mohammed Kabir, said the government needs to create grazing reserves for herdsmen so that they would stop encroaching on farmlands.

He said if Nigeria failed to address the issue squarely, the country could start relying on other countries for cattle supply and this would further weaken the economy.

Kabir, who is also the Secretary, Association of Fulani Chiefs in the South-West, said, “We have appealed to the Federal Government and state governments in the South-West to help create grazing reserves.

“It is done in many advanced countries. When these things don’t exist, the herdsmen have to encroach for survival. Even before oil, we were doing this.

“God forbids that we will be importing all our cattle from overseas like our cars. This cattle rearing creates jobs for thousands if not millions of people. There is ranching in advanced countries but we can’t be ranchers because we can’t afford it.”

Wished our fathers suceeded in actualization of Biafra, I don't think these peeps will have the emfantry to express their shameful propaganda against us. Nigeria is a failed state and I want the best for our future and families. Ndi ba anyi. Nigeria is not safe.

undecidedNo Fulani will abandon his cows to abduct people but Chief Falae firmly claimed that the accent was fulani. Does that mean that the old can't recognise a fulani accent since the herdsmen have stayed in ondo over 100 years. . By the way what stops fulani men from grasing peacefuly with their cows without causing mayhem to their host. Is high time they build a reserve ranch for their cows after all they have so much undevelope piece of land there in North why drag farm land with poor farmers.

Mr Olu Falae said he was kidnapped by six Fulani Herdsman Monday at his Ilado farm in Akure. The 77-years old warned that such attack should not be allowed to happen again as it could result to even graver consequences.

"By the way one of them told me, he said, Baba, if after you leave us you talk nonsense I will come and catch you again" That is the kind of insult I received.

"Asked if the Kidnappers were illiterate he replied: only two of them could speak some English. They were between the ages of of 25 and 35. They were Fulani, they spoke Hausa"
http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/190728-how-i-was-abducted-tortured-released-olu-falae.html

So Yorubas, does it mean Mr Falae lied against his Fulani Kidnappers?

The YAMS (Yoruba Association of Muslim Sycophants) of the SW are trying so hard to divert the blames on the innocent Igbos. Be wise oh ye true sons of O'odualand and smell the coffee.
Olu Falae himself said he was kidnapped by Fulani herdsmen.
Yinka Odumakin and Afenifere reiterated the same thing. Would you now believe the paid APC goons over your distinguished Yoruba patriots. Be wise!

While Chief Falae's personal account must be respected, this might not be far from the truth. The report never said it wasn't impersonators of the herdsmen that abducted Pa Falae.

Several cases of criminals including Boko Haram members that have been caught impersonating Fulani herdsmen to cover up their heinous crimes in the past have been reported. As someone said, kidnapping is not a fulani trait and we can't all be fooled into looking for the perpetrators in a different direction possibly because of a disguise and mimicked accent.

If they are genuine fulani herdsmen however, who are experimenting with kidnapping, then the consequences are dire.

The FG and other stakeholders must invest committed and concerted effort into identifying the real identities of these criminals who are clearly not genuine cattle rearers, and putting an end to their antics.

Alleged Connection between Boko Haram and Nigeria’s Fulani Herdsmen Could Spark a Nigerian Civil War

In recent weeks, Nigerian security forces have claimed that some groups of semi-nomadic Fulani herdsmen engaged in bitter and bloody conflicts with farmers in several Nigerian states are actually composed of members of Boko Haram. A statement from Nigerian Director of Defense Information Major General Chris Olukolade claimed the potentially dangerous identification came during the interrogation of Fulani herdsmen arrested after a series of killings and arson attacks in Taraba State (Vanguard [Lagos], April 23; Leadership [Abuja], April 24; Nigerian Tribune, April 24). Reports of Boko Haram members (who are mostly members of the Kanuri ethno-cultural group) disguising themselves as Fulani herdsmen while carrying out attacks in rural Nigeria are common.

Yes, I have said this before and would say it again, Fulanis may be guilty of all those things they've been accused of but definitely Kidnapping is not one of their modus operandi (though it may be possible that this could a new thing with them) but for now it seems there could be more to these kidnapping stories than meets the eye - there are a few ppl who would love it to be true and could go as far as to sponsor it themselves.

Your response isn't unexpected,is it?
You'll never ever blame the Fulani herdsmen( your masters) even if they're caught right in the act;rather you would twist it,modify it,deny it until you make it look as if it was done by someother people.
But remember, your mischief and cowardice will only embolden them and make them more daring. So be prepared when they come calling on your door..

So! What about the fulani killings everywhere. I see fulani brandishing AK47 everywhere they go with their cows.

And some yorubas are rejoicing that the fulanis have debunked kidnapping Olu Falae!!! Chai!!! Chai!!! Chai!!!

The yorubas will wake up one morning to see that the fulanis have taken over all the farms in the south-west, just because they feel they have to continue defending their masters the Fulani.

I love fulani for one thing. They don't value friendship. They use this two words all the time as their best friend 'Ruthlessly' and 'Rule'. Anything short of this words don't even touch them.

AU can throw this trash out the window under the basis of evidence against Fulani herdsmen. They're murders wherever they go.

I remember mentioning that kidnap does not fit Fulani profile during Falea's kidnap saga. Yet, it happened again. If Fulanis are really being impersonated, we need to find out whose behind it and why. And to what extent are they being impersonated?

They can't tell us that Fulanis are innocent of killing Enugu community leader, killing innocent people in the MB and killing/raping crimes all over Nigeria.
