AMAECHI REACTS: Trashes All The Allegations Against Him by erhabor11(m): 2:43pm On Oct 08, 2015
Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Rivers state, says Nyesom Wike, his successor, is trying all within his powers to stop him from becoming a member of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet.

Denying the allegation that N53 billion got missing from the state’s treasury under him, Amaechi described the panel which Wike mandated to investigate him as “invidious”.

Wike received the report of the commission on Wednesday and promised to effect its recommendations “immediately”.

“We will make sure that we swing into action immediately to see that the recommendations by the commission are implemented,” Wike had said.

But Amaechi dismissed the governor’s claim, advising him to focus on achieving “something meaningful” during his last days in office.

“The statement credited to the panel’s chairman, Justice Omeriji of a missing N53 billion is unfortunate and leaves much to be desired,” read a statement issued by Amaechi’s media office late Wednesday.

“The mischief is all the more evident as the funds referred to are funds from the Rivers state reserve fund which was duly approved by the a Rivers state house of assembly and whose expenditure were duly captured and accounted for.

“Ordinarily we might not have responded to the mischief of Mr. Wike knowing that having failed with his various desperate tactics to stop the nomination of the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi as a minister, he has embarked on this last ditch effort which is his trump card in the hope that it will diminish the former governor’s towering stature as a statesman and honest Nigerian.

“However, in keeping with Governor Amaechi’s ethos of transparent and accountable leadership we will again repeat the facts of the matter. Government had set aside the reserve fund as rainy day fund and had need to fall back to it to fund salaries and projects. The details of the expenditure were very clearly captured and this information which was already in the public domain was shared with the incoming administration and the Omeriji panel.

“Government business should be transparent and honest and if indeed Mr. Nyesom Wike understands that basics of governance then he should know that rather than playing to the gallery with his red herring of a panel, he should simply go to court and prove his spurious allegations of corruption.

“We would counsel Mr. Wike to focus on the job at hand and try to make something of the few days he has before he leaves Brick House, per adventure he might yet make some positive impact on the minds of Rivers people.”

Amaechi trying to trash whatever allegation against him is same as trashing the oxygen that emanates from his nostrils, he breathes corruption.

He can't just do away with it cos it is his life. Period!

Since they dont know how you saved the said money, how will they know how you spent it. When other states were busy borrowing money you AMAECHI did not borrow but spent from the reserve duelly approved by the state house of assembly. You remain the best Governor of Rivers state.

erhabor11:
APC chieftain and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi has said no N53bn was missing during his tenure. He said the funds were from the Rivers State Reserve Fund which were duly approved by the Rivers State House of Assembly for spending.
He accused Governor Nyesom Wike of resorting to last-ditch effort to scuttle his nomination as a minister by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Sources say Governor Wike had boasted that he will commit suicide if Amaechi is cleared as Minister.

Amaechi, who is now a ministerial nominee, made the clarification in a statement by his Media Office.
The statement said: “The attention of the media office of former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has been drawn to a statement credited to the chairman of Mr. Nyesom Wike’s invidious panel of inquiry.
“The statement credited to the panel’s chairman Justice Omeriji of a “missing” N53 billion is unfortunate and leaves much to be desired.
“The mischief is all the more evident as the funds referred to are funds from the Rivers State reserve fund which was duly approved by the Rivers State House of Assembly and whose expenditure were duly captured and accounted for.
“Ordinarily we might not have responded to the mischief of Mr. Wike, knowing that having failed with his various desperate tactics to stop the nomination of the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi as a minister he has embarked on this last-ditch effort which is his trump card in the hope that it will diminish the former governors towering stature as a statesman and honest Nigerian.”
The ex-governor stated why it became inevitable for his administration to draw from the Reserve Fund.
He added: “However in keeping with Governor Amaechi’s ethos of transparent and accountable leadership we will again repeat the facts of the matter. Between 2013 and early 2015 revenue accruing to the government of Rivers state was cut in half due to swindling federal allocation to states.
“From about an average of N20 billion, the state began receiving between N9billion and N10 billion. By the middle of the first quarter of 2015 the state revenue dipped to as low as N6 billion. Salaries alone stood at over N9 billion besides other expenses.
“Government set aside the reserve fund as a rainy day fund and had needed to fall back to it to find salaries and projects.
“The details of the expenditure were very clearly captured and this information which was already in the public domain was shared with the incoming and the Omeriji panel."
Amaechi asked Governor Nyesom Wike to stop playing to the gallery: “Government business should be transparent and honest and if indeed Mr. Nyesom Wike understand that basics of governance then he should know that rather than playing to the gallery with his red herring of a panel, he should simply go to court and prove his spurious allegations of corruption to court if he is sure there is corruption. “Spending resources left behind for the betterment of Rivers people by a prudent and thrifty government on frivolities is indeed irresponsible and unbecoming for a person who aspires to public office especially that of the exalted office of governor.
“We would counsel Mr. Wike to focus on the job at hand and try to make something of the few days he has before he leaves Brick House, per adventure he might yet make some positive impact on the minds of Rivers people.”

Mr Amaechi's is as devious as hell! Why did he not tell us if those 'rainy days' emptied those accounts!

But as usual his butt_lickers will swarm this thread and jerk each other off!

Plus why on hell should a governer be envious of a minister for God's sake?

.we the people of ss are solidly behind Amaechi.Wike should focus on the short time he has governor and leave Amaechi.Amaechi is not a saint, but for wike to painting him as more corrupt than, odili, obj,Ibb,tinubu,Gej,is quite unfortunate. Amaechi saved for the rainy days, and when the rain days came,he spent the reserve,so wike should go to court and allow Amaechi concentrate on his new job of joining the legacy team headed by pmb,to transform the Nation to the chagrin of PDP and its supporters.

Wike should be thankful to Amaechi. When compared to peer states like Delta that is currently in debt to the tune of about N64 billion and is finding it difficult to pay salaries. Even Akwa-ibom that gets the largest allocation is in debt.

The deputy should be warming up then.

But Wike will rather kill himself than to commit suicide

Amaechi go explain yourself to the judge and not to the press. If not that Buhari is hypocritical about anti-corruption crusade, you should be responding to questions from EFCC investigators by now.

Kudos to Amaechi for saving when things were good. A feat Jonah-daft never achieved at the center. A visionary leader that deserves a ministerial appointment. Right from day 1 he started saving.
Wike the thug has spent months now, the fool hasn't saved a kobo instead he borrowed 30 billion within 30 days.

I agree with the go to court part. If you have proof of corruption against anybody. you do not just issue a statement. you go to court immediately
