hi guys, just noticed that tecno boom j7 which supposedly an android phone is not really an android phone, the OS installed on the phone is simply what i will call android os clone which can also perform similar functions as the Google's android o.s. I noticed this when i was trying to backup my stock ROM of my boom j7 to my pc, during the process the tool used in backing up the ROM needed to access the boom j7 via android adb usb interface but it could not , at first i could not figure out why till i click on device manager to see what usb interface is boom j7 using, surprisingly i saw this YUNOSphone and in the drop down menu it displays yunos acb interface instead of android adb interface well i had to find out what it meant.....headed straight to Google and through wikipedia i was made to understand the origin of the OS

bottom line

Not trying to discourage anyone from using this phone(boom 7)
neither am i saying this to tarnish the name of the OEM
in fact is my current phone and i love it

But just wanted make known the limitations of this O.S
1. no update/upgrade to latest version of android will eventually come out
2. some 4.4 android apps will not work no matter what
3. some tweak that comes for rooted Google's android os might not work even when ur device is rooted
*maybe you don't believe me, connect your phone in media transfer mode and check your device manager

YunOS is actually AliBaba's customized Android OS. Just made certain modifications to the AndroidOS.
Moreover phones like Meizu and Xiaomi use it.

Seems most Tecno phones run on this OS as their users complain that they can't upgrade their Android versions. As long as the os has a play store where I can download and update my apps, good enough for me

It's not an an android phone and its using play store and goes features an android phone can do smh. You would just have said the OS has customized or its not a true Android OS

I would rather spend over a 100k on a samsung, sony, lg or htc product than spend less on a high end tecno or its kind device.

guy it's not defrauding at all. Infact the iteration of the Yun OS makes Android looks sweet. The reason you will see Tecno phones have cleaner interface and huge customisation. Xiaomi uses this too
