DSS Effects Mass Transfer Of Officers From Akwa Ibom - Thisday by ALISMILE(m): 10:23am On Oct 20, 2015
The headquarters of the Department of State
Services (DSS) in Abuja has effected mass
transfer of its officers in Akwa Ibom State.
Sources told THISDAY yesterday that more than
100 officers and personnel were affected in the
mass transfer.
It was gathered that the transfer of the DSS
officers from the state which is with immediate
effect, equally affected those who had not spent
up to two years after their last positing to the
state.
Sources said the exercise might not be
unconnected with the alleged partisan conduct
of the officers in the state.
A source equally maintained that in case the
governorship election petitions tribunal sitting in
Abuja nullified the governorship election held in
the state on April over alleged weighty evidence
presented before it by the candidate of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Umana
Okon Umana, the new officers of the DSS posted
to the state would remain neutral in the conduct
of re-run election.
Mr. Ebenezer Adesino who had since assumed
office as the state Director, replaced Mr. Toma
Minti was transferred to another state.
A source said Abuja had uncovered that there
was a cabal operating within the service in the
state hence the decision by the Director-General
of DSS, Alhaji Lawal Daura, to embark on the
mass transfer of the officers from the state.
Most members of the cabal were said to have
worked against the genuine interest of the
service in the state as they allowed the political
environment to influence their operations.
Although members of the cable are said to be
happy over their transfer from the state, others
are complaining that their transfer was
premature as they have not spent up to two
years in the state.
Some of those affected claimed that the mass
transfer could be taken as a punitive measure as
most of them were transfered to another geo-
political zone outside the zone of their origin as
the case used to be.
An official of the DSS expressed fear that cases
like kidnapping, baby theft and armed robbery
among other crimes might likely return to the
state as the new officers posted to the state
would take time to become familiar with the
terrain in crime control and prevention.

Been sayin for sometimes now that the DSS is overhyped and nearly as corrupt as d Police! I really don't see their effectiveness! Inspite of their self aggrandizment, last month their Headqts in Lokoja was overrun by insurgents in Kogi State only for d much maligned Police to go for their rescue! The story was downplayed my d media and assess was not allowed into d premises of d overrun Headqtrs! For me dey re jus exaggerated!

Great...for providing information (classified) to Akpabio leading to his escape some weeks ago.
If allowed, I would prosecute all those team without mercy of the court grin
Useless and selfish set of officers shocked
Overfed and over-pampered by the previous governments of Akpabio and Jonathan

Anyway great job by DSS-High Command under the watch of PMBshocked

Sound reasoning.
