In a statement signed by presidential spokesman, Femi Adeniyi, the presidency says it’s attention has been drawn to the latest statement by the PDP spokesman, Olisa Metuh alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari is “demarketing Nigeria”.

Read statement below:

[b]“We restate for the umpteenth time to Mr. Metuh and his likes that their attempts to distract President Buhari from the job he has been elected to do will fail.

“President Buhari will remain true to the virtues of honesty, integrity, sincerity, incorruptibility and plain-speaking which endeared him to Nigerians and made them prefer his leadership that of a lying and deceptive PDP administration.

“The President will not, in the guise of “marketing” the country, refrain from telling Nigerians and the world, the emerging truths about the abject state in which years of plundering by a PDP leadership has left the Nigerian treasury and economy.

“President Buhari will not in the name of “marketing” or “attracting” investors, follow in the footsteps of the ousted PDP Administration and its discredited officials who shamelessly lied to Nigerians and the world about the buoyancy and vibrancy of an economy they had bled dry for personal gain, when it was very obvious to the discerning, that the Nigerian economy was headed for serious trouble.

“It is most unfortunate that instead of showing some remorsefulness for the harm done to the nation by his party, and giving genuine support for President Buhari’s efforts to salvage and revamp the national economy, Mr. Metuh persists in a vain attempt to remain relevant on the national stage by unjustly denigrating the President who continues to strive with all his might to alleviate and reverse the harm done to the nation by PDP misrule and corruption.

“Mr. Metuh’s antics are futile. President Buhari cannot be distracted by a broken record. If the PDP spokesman ever has serious matters to bring to our attention, we will be prepared to listen.”

PDP will always be uncomfortable anytime corruption is mentioned. They committed the act for 16 years and so will try as much as possible to distract the president from talking about cleaning the rot they created. All the story about demarketing is absolute thrash. The entire world knows about the high rate of corruption in Nigeria and by talking about it globally shows that the president is telling the global community that he recognises what the problem is and he is ready to tackle it head on.

And as rightly put by Mr Adesina, Metuh is a broken record who will never stop wailing. He is so used to the old system of PDP lying to Nigerians and the entire world that the idea of an honest president is strange to him.

People don't seem to understand that Metuh's avenues through which he earned an income having been taken away from him, he must throw all sorts of mud to try to distract d govt.
I bet anyone that if APC dares win Rivers state, thus removing the last revenue stream for the likes of Metuh, the kind of words and personal attacks from him on leading lights of the PMB govt wud make the likes of Fayose crawl.
Metuh is just a state away from going bunkers, mark my words.

Femi Adesina should shut his mouth for pete's sake.. How hard can it be for a presidential spokes-person to conduct himself as such? Eh? When did this once respectable man become so loquacious? Smh

Femi Adesina is the worst spokesman we ve ever seen in Nigeria, he enjoys attacking people and not the message.

Mr Femi, please always tell d presidet some truth. You don't need to defend mistakes, rather correct them. President's remarks in India is embarassing to say the least,it might be as a result od PDP misrule but Sai Baba needs to be diplomatic when painting the country in the outside world. We keep praying for him to steer the ship aright as he take Nigeria to d next level. God bless PMB!

We are talking about Nigeri going through Economic recession and you are still playing politics. PMB is stiffling our economy with his policies. If you are in the Private or Public sector you ll know that there is problem in this country. Household income has shrink with the belt tightening policies of our leader.

Last time Adeshina was in Ghana he was marketing Ghana's tourism potential instead of Nigeria.

Buhari goes to India to completely rubbish Nigeria before the international committee and expects us to clap for Him

Thiss change is Just Nonsense

What did that man intend to say, in plain language?

Why is apc and their ignorant sympathisers, aka supporters so resistance of any little criticism?

Why are they so desperate to shut opposing, contradictory and alternative voices to this their repressive government?

That they were voted for (albeit, ignorantly) by many does not mean same people that voted for them, as well as others who saw beyond their make up and did not vote for them, will not lend their voices to cry out against their misdeeds when such misdeeds are so rampant and conspicuous as they currently are.
As long as the earth remains, the voice of the people is always greater, stringer and louder than the voice of the few who are the rulers.

Primitive politics. Is it how it's being placed in the nations we pretend to copy after? And must Adesina respond to every talk from the opposition?

Why should a president, in a desperate attempt to appear sincere and incorruptible, travel to a foreign land and tell them his nation is corrupt?

BTW, Mr Buhari was elected to solve problems, not talk about them.

All in all, the masses are the biggest losers.

So, what's the alternative to the belt tightening measures if I may ask? Should he remove the tightening measures and allow the naira slide to the point where it will become worthless?

You rightly agree that we are in a recession but it seems you don't appreciate the full implications of an economic recession. Price of crude has fallen from around $120 two years ago to $40 today and you still expect everything to be normal. It's impossible.

For now, we need those tightening measures to keep the country going until we can get out of this recession. The cabinet will be sworn in this week and we expect the new ministers to hit the ground running by coming up with more measures on how to boost the economy. There is nothing political about those measures, they are necessary at this point in time.

If u do not understand that things wud have been unimaginably worse under d fisherman and that it wud take painstaking years of serious good governance to even start thinking of turning the tide, then I pity ur education and illusions.
When Obama came on board he met an economy that was bad, but not 1/1000th as bad as was left by d pdp in Nigeria. It has taken Obama almost 6years for Americans to begin to see a turnaround.
Here is a country without power, roads, plummeting oil revenue and that has been financially raped by the GEJ govt and u people expect a turnaround soon! I laff Nigerians in Cantonese!!

Mr Adesina, SHUT UP and for once in your life do your damn job, instead of playing ping pong with the opposition. You should be preparing your list of lies to feed us of the bountiful harvest of deals signed with the Indian business community, but you rather get into the ring with Metuh. If the President had an iota of intelligence, he would fire your incompetent AZZ.
