Since the arrest of Radio Biafra director, Nnamdi Kanu by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), pro-Biafra sentiments has shot through the roof.

Kanu, who is also acclaimed to be the Director of Biafra Television and the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was arrested in Lagos by security operatives, as he flew into Nigeria from his base in the UK.

His arrest has however sparked series of protest, just last week quite a large number of people in Anambra and Port Harcourt took to the streets to protest his arrest, some of the protesters were subsequently arrested and charged with treason.

This has also set the internet abuzz with videos and pictures of Nigerians in the Diaspora tearing their Nigerian passports in support of the pro-Biafra group and speaking against the Nigerian government. Their actions even made cover pages of newspapers in the country.

Count us out of your agitation – South-South Alliance Project Group

This unrest has prompted a group, the South-South Alliance Project Group to dissociate themselves from IPOB and condemn in unequivocal terms actions of the group.

According to the coordinator of the group, Charles Inko-Tariah “On behalf of the good people of the South-South, we unequivocally condemn the recent protest and activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) within the territory of the South-South especially Port-Harcourt. We watch with dismay the ongoing brainwashing, blackmail and propaganda by few of our Ibo neighbors within Port-Harcourt and its environs geared towards coercing the innocent and uninformed people of the region to their personal and self centered agenda,” he said

Speaking further, Inko-Tariah said “we want to make it categorically clear to those behind this wicked and selfish act, especially the so called IPOB that no part or territory of the South-South belongs to the South-East. Rivers State and indeed other South-South States are not Igbos, so don’t involve us in your planned agitation and struggle for Biafran state. We don’t believe in Biafra and their so called Biafra radio, we believe in ourselves as Niger-Deltans, our challenges are peculiar, so stay clear from our land with your so called struggle. We believe in the sovereignty of the Nigeria and the peaceful co-existence of the Nigerian state, we have absolute confidence in the administration of President Buhari and his ability to develop the South-South in line with his campaign promises and in his ability to fast track the Nigerian economy” he disclosed.

We will defend our land – Inko-Tariah

Preaching the need for peaceful coexistence as a tool in the development of the Niger Delta, Inko-Tariah called on people of the Niger-Delta to stand firm in the face of this unrest.

“We use this opportunity to call on our South-South brothers, fathers, mothers and all stakeholders to stand and defend our land from this modern day invasion of our rights and territory that our ancestors like Isaac Adaka-Boro, Ken Saro-Wiwa and many other fought for. We call on Nigerians residing in the South-South states; the Hausas, Igbos and Yorubas to remain calm and go about their lawful duties and business without fear or favour. Let us all continue to enjoy the peaceful cohabitation already existing and the good harmonious relationship because we believe and are committed to the Nigerian project” he said.

Buhari should fulfill his electoral promise– Group

The group also used the opportunity to call on President Buhari to make good his electioneering promises to the south-south people.

“We therefore call on President Muhammadu Buhari to make good all his electioneering promises to the people of the South-South. While we thank him for this interest and attention to the implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) reports on Ogoni land, we also call on him to fast track the coastal shore protection project proposed by late President Umar Yar-Adua round the shores of the Niger-Delta to protect the communities from environmental decay and possible natural disasters as well open up our ancestral homes to project its tourist and economic potentials.

It will be recalled that IPOB is a separatist movement calling for the independence of Nigeria’s former Eastern Region – proclaimed the Republic of Biafra in 1967 and reannexed to Nigeria three years later, following a civil war that claimed between one and three million lives.

It's quite laughable that a group of Ijaws will gather somewhere and claim they are speaking for the more than 30 ethnic groups that makes up this so called South-South. The even said that an ancestor of the South/South is Adaka Boro. This is so funny because Boro never heard the words South-South before he died. South/South came about kong after his death. Bunch of disgraceful people! The Almajiris up north are carting away their oil and Gas wealth everyday but they are busy begging for their own oil money from the same people stealing it.

^^^It's obvious innit!? He sounds like some of them on here!

It was always gonna be easy to find a few in the Niger Delta (even in Alaigbo sef) to sabotage the movement!

Ken Saro Wiwa that he mentioned, we all know what became of him and his regrets over the choice he made during the uncivil war!

A group of misinformed Ijaws feeling relevant. If no south south state is Biafra, tell Amaechi and Wike to return their Igbo names.

His name says he's ijo and this is where we're waiting for them.
For me self, everything West of bonny river is SS while those East of it is Biafra. When the time comes,I'd like to see the Ijo who in the guise of NDR that'd stop me from annexing Anioma, Igwenga and other parts of Igboid Rivers undecided

We are okay with the 5 states we don't need any South South or what ever they call themselves.
Less is better, let them continue to be molested by Fulani/Hausa born to rule folks.

We don't want to waste our energy and resources on cleaning up the environmental damage. When you leave them it will be more peaceful for us.
If some wish to join, let them do it in a separate movement later on. It will be easier for us to regain our freedom without them.

And here comes the igbo lover, the yorubas that care more for igbos than themselves, to the rescue, with a word of advice.

Igbo have no brain to know wat is good for them.

This may come as a shock to you, SS OR NO SS, Biafra is here, we dont want to share nationality with Yorubas and Hausas anymore.

Even Rochas is speaking for the whole igbos against Biafra but does that change anything? No!

Thank God I've always been saying it. Igbos are out to grab our lands, resources and access to international waters and nothing more. South south is not biafra. SS is not SE. Stop trying to bully or intimidate us into joining your failed project. Thank God SS are speaking with one voice. Igboland starts from Asaba and ends in the SE. Any attempt to grab our lands will be met very heavy resistance. A word is enough for the wise. I pity any ethnic group that would join them in biafra. Their marginalization will be so epic and out of this world.

Who would leave an oil rich SS with access to the sea to join a landlocked region? Only fools. Last I checked, there aren't any in the SS.

I am 500% against bringing in Oil States. It will cost us too much money and resources to clean up that mess.
Let them stay with Nigeria and keep getting screwed over. They are enjoying how they are being treated.
Even with all the oil money they receive they are suffering from the environmental impact.
