For a professional accountant, I will recommend using Sage if you don't mind the yearly cost to your business.

However, if you are worried about that, I would recommend any of the cloud applications.

The major difference is cost of deployment and user interface.

hey. first thing is to be computer savvy. once you're able to navigate freely around the basics of a computer you're good to go.

Learn how to use excel and word. it's not just about typing stuff...it's more about know their features and knowing how to apply them.

Learn how to use at least 2 accounting packages... you can go for sage and quickbooks

You don't have to be a pro in any of them before adding them to your cv as skills. once you know the basics and can use the software with minimal supervision, you're good to go.

Always go for free. You can learn these things on your own. DOwnload youtube video tutorials...download free software to practice with.
Sage is a paid software but you can get it free to use as an individual.

there's a lot to it but not impossible to handle.

all accounting software are basically the same in the sense that the end result is the same. the major differences are user interface, graphical designs and some other cool stuff like cloud support.
however, knowing how to use one software isn't enough...if possible, know them all. (just kidding...at least know 3-5 popular ones)

with those, learning any new one would be a cake walk.
