The more addicted to porn you are, the less likely you are searching for it.

No be small thing oo,
Trust a Naija(ibo man) we survive almost everywhere.
I've developed thick skin for their insults and discriminations.

I keep saying this thing, we need to control the internet. The way Asians have it, we need it in this country. The internet is causing more disunity, depravity and moral decadence than we have ever seen or experienced.

You think the statistics are skewed? Why don't we use youtube as an example. Type "popular on YouTube Nigeria" on the youtube search box and see how many porn videos you'd get. Now look for another country that could compete with that amount.

Okay genius, how many Nigerians know how to use Youtube? How many Nigerians can actually stream videos on Youtube considering most people are still on 2G/3G mobile network? We have less than 10 million unique mobile users in Nigeria compared to for example a country like USA with over 100 million unique users. Next time you go on Youtube type in strippers, freaks and twerking, let me know what you find.

You just yarned eloquent dust.
This sociological research has been carried out and validated.
Your opinion is just what it is...... Shyte.

Oh BTW, before you go on your perverted society tirade, you should probably go check the so called society of morals in the world religious countries and see how they ccompare with Western civilization like Norway and Sweden

Validated by which source? Skewed and manipulated Data is one of the reason 3rd world countries continue to remain slaves to the more advanced countries. A reasonable person understands the points I brought out from my own little analysis but then again from what you wrote you don't seem reasonable. For goodness sake you think Norway and Sweden are not religious countries, you are truly f*cked!

After reading this well researched article, I am completely wary of the future of our kids with the explosion of internet and smart phones.
I remember as kids, access to explicit magazines usually comes once in a blue moon, and yet we found our way to experiment with sex and masturbations.
I want to commend Leke Adler for his pioneering work with this JacknJill organization, right from his twitter conversations to this helpdesk platform.
For all the freedoms in the world is worth, we must find a way of getting legislative bills on banning/filtering explicit contents, to protect our kids and even adults that have been deeply hooked on it.

I see why rape cases have been on the increase they've been feeding their minds with rape pornography at the rate they are watching gay porn even people who are not gay will begin to believe they are gay or dabble into gay sex. This is alarming.

I doubt that is the reason, after all many of the people reported are not even people who use the internet, so where will they watch it? It has always been in our society, we just pretend it has not, what about all these Baba's who molest children, did they watch it in Porn films??. The fact is that Social media is bringing a secret that has always been there to the forefront now. Lets not deceive ourselves, that we practice polygamy is possibly indicative of high sex drive, and that has been the case in Africa since time .

Stupidd research .Nigeria outstripped American indeed. What megabytes do you guys have to be downloading those huge HD videos and pictures? In America all the cafes have free WiFi

Your foolish statistic ,assumptions and conclusion is false and a waste of financial resources if any

There are at least 93 million internet users in Nigeria, not sure where you pulled your stats from.

http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/09/internet-users-in-nigeria-rise-to-93-5m/

The data given in the article is confirmed by the WorldBank. http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/IT.NET.USER.P2

The ncc may be referring to configured lines. Some people have six lines each with 10mb upon recharge, that can be a little misleading.

I challenge the OP or the source to bring out the same statistic for countries like France, USA and so on, you would be shocked to find out that the more advanced the country is, the higher the Data. I don't know about the OP but common sense would tell you that there are more porn watchers in the USA than Nigeria. Simple fact: There are more people with laptops and phones in the USA than Nigeria, the internet connection is also a lot faster. Now mix that with a society where outing one's sexuality is often encouraged and what you'll have is a very perverted society.

Look at the bold part of the quote above and let it be the premise of this discussion. The statistic is based on relativity to other searches from the same country. Could this high ratio be due to the fact that majority of Nigerians hardly make use of Google search? Could it be that we have more people focused on social media than actually looking for answers on the net or could it be that as a society we are still naive in regards to what homosexuality and pornography means and the only way to educate ourselves is to search for answers on the internet? Anyway anyhow, the statistic is skewed and there's no cause for alarm, Nigeria still remains one of the more cultured countries in the world and certainly not as wayward as the more advanced countries out there!

The main thrust of the full article is that it is more a problem for us to handle than the advanced countries, especially in the near future.

How many Nigerians can actually stream videos on Youtube considering most people are still on 2G/3G mobile network?

Stay there. When you can watch the video in 140p quality even 0g would work. grin

Source? According to this source and some others, we should have over 70 million users.

Porn is bad for your health o. I discovered my brain seems to lose info too much after watching it.

But op are you trying to tell me that countries like japan and some other asian countries watch less porn than Nigeria. I dont believe it

The problem the article highlights more is that of control. We have a huge population and budding youths but we lack the capacity for the dangers the future portends.

I beg to differ. I don't believe porn has anything to do with rape. A rapist is a sick demented and evil individual. It is a phenomenon that exist independent of pornography. Suggesting the latter informs the former is taking it a bit far.

It's a process, like sowing and reaping. A new group of rapists are evolving and all they need is opportunity, and no risk of being caught. i suppose that's very easy in Nigeria.

Actually,we have to notice a subtile difference.Yes,we are highly rank in Google searches for porn but, that's it.It's just searches. The key difference is that in the West and Asia these porn sites are long bookmarked by their people who have access to large bandwidth to home connections and don't have to go to cybercafes. Their PC in some cases boot to porn sites using active desktops. So in essence, it a stat that is flawed or should I say, lacks definitive substance. People hooked to porn would definitely bookmark it and not search using google. It therefore may suggest we are not as hooked to it like the rest of the world.

It's indicating where we are going. Our people are searching massively, and will likely bookmark massively. Its a future problem and timebomb as we're blessed with a big population, yet no control and solutions to the fall out.

This is the problem I have with people like you, you see but you can't comprehend! Don't you know the difference between internet users and unique internet users? Unique internet users means a different user with a different device. The source you provided is another example of manipulated Data. As a user if I connect to the internet using my phone, laptop and tablet, it would count the Data has 3 users when in reality it should be one. Also, there is an even greater difference when we factor in mobile users, those who only access the internet from their phone. So you can see we are talking about two different things. My point is Data can easily be manipulated, learn to comprehend instead of just reading!

And that I fully disagree with. We have more pertinent problems than pornography! Our youths and children are still considered well mannered compared to the so called advanced countries and we don't have as much of a drug and gun violence incidents as those countries. The article makes it seem as if most Nigerian internet users have homosexual tendencies when in reality most Nigerians detest homosexuality.
