Ministerial Appointments : South East Lost Out As Usual - Ebonyi Stakeholders. by WIZGUY69(m): 3:47pm On Nov 12, 2015
By Peter Okutu ABAKALIKI-A key stakeholder in Ebonyi state, Chief Abia Onyike yesterday described President Muhammadu appointment of Ministers as lopsided and unbalanced considering the portfolios that went to the South East geopolitical zone of the country. “Looking at the pattern of the allocation of portfolios, it is clear that the key ministries went to the North and the South-west. The key ministries in the North include Petroleum, Agriculture, Defence, Justice, FCT, Internal Affairs, Environment and Information. “The South west equally had juicy ministries such as Communications, Health, Power, Works, Housing, Finance and Solid minerals. The South East lost out as usual with peripheral ministries with the exception of Enugu state which got the Foreign Affairs port- folio. “It is also clear that Baba Raji Fashiola has emerged a super minister (Power, Works and Housing while Chibuike Amaechi occupies a low ranking ministry (Transportation). “This pattern of appointments reveals that Buhari is still rigidly committed to the statements he made in the USA, to the effect that he is only out to favour those who voted for him during the elections of 28th March. “It equally shows that unlike Jonathan who was afraid of the core North and did all he could to woo them in spite of loosing elections there, Buhari has no plans to adopt a flexible attitude towards his perceived opponents. “Such an extremist and isolationist posture is a disservice to national peace and stability”. Also, Senator Emmanuel Onwe added that “The president has missed the opportunity to reassure people of the South East that there is broad mindedness, fairness and equity at the heart of his government”. Jonathan sidelines Yoruba in key appointments -Akande

OCTOBER 15, 2014 BY SAMUEL AWOYINFA, ABEOKUTA

A national leader and former chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Bisi Akande, has said President Goodluck Jonathan is marginalising the Yoruba in all constitutional appointments in the country.

He also pointed out that the president had not hidden  his disdain for Yoruba leaders, who have any views contrary to his own.

Akande said this on Wednesday at the inaugural lecture of the Dauda Adegbenro Foundation, in honour of the late Chief Dauda Adegbenro, a former Premier of the Western Region, in Abeokuta.

Akande, who was the chairman on the occasion, in his speech titled, ‘Adegbenro fought against impunity’, noted that no administration had disrespected the Yoruba nation like Jonathan’s.

Unlike the late politician and statesman, Akande noted that the current administration at the centre promoted impunity and imposed unwanted leaders on the people.

Tracing the history of imposition of unwanted leaders on the people by the Federal Government to early 60s, which he said led to the ‘Operation We tie‘ crisis in the Western Region, Akande said the nation needed politicians in the mould of Adegbenro to fight the emerging impunity in governance.

He said, “We are back in similar era of using the regime of impunity in Jonathan’s Federal Government to impose unwanted individuals as leaders in each of the states of Yoruba land.

“It will not be an overstatement to say therefore, that we now require many more Dauda Adegbenros to lead Yoruba’s protest against Jonathan’s regime’s impunity once again in Yorubaland.”

“Apart from marginalising the Yoruba in all constitutional appointments of his government, Jonathan’s trait has always been to persecute the Yoruba leaders, whom he perceived to have contrary views to his own.”

The OP is a confirm bigot. Didn't you also wail when it didn't favour you. Tufiakwa! You guys reek of hypocrisy; it is perfectly normal for people to voice their displeasure just like you guys did during GEJ. The simple truth of the whole matter is that even if we voted massively for Buhari, the same scenario would have still played in terms of appointments. From the get go Buhari already had a group he wanted to work with.

Oya receive this koboko from your master Buhari.

Confused lots, that's what happens when they play emotional politics.

Ndigbo Hail Buhari Over Ministerial Portfolios

Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria (NCSN) has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Ndigbo with worthy ministerial portfolios which complements the recent appointments of federal permanent secretaries.

The group noted that the recent appointments by Buhari indicated that the president is beginning to correct the earlier alleged posture of sectionalism.

We urge our ambassadors in the President Buhari administration to give their best to the nation and mankind, even though the economic fortunes of the country was at all time low, we expect our ambassadors to be shining lights at this dark end of the tunnel.

“While we commend President Muhammadu Buhari,we also encourage him to still take a giant step forward and ensure that an Igbo is appointed into the six principal offices of the nation, possibly the position of the Secretary to the Federal Government (SGF), which will help Igbo leaders convince their kits and kin that no region is left behind in this government,” the group further stated.

“Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria (NCSN) would also like to plead with our people seeking self-determination to understand that, sometimes, your worst enemy could be your best friend and, therefore, for the avoidance of doubt, give President Muhammadu Buhari a chance to prove himself a friend or foe,” it concluded.
