Wearing Of Hijab In The Northeast - Lives Not Valued In Nigeria? by Sammiel: 10:08pm On Nov 18, 2015
After listening to the news today and reading through online articles on recent spate of terrorist attacks across the globe, I began to wonder why there has not been any official pronouncement by Mr. President of a ban on wearing of hijab in public places across the frequently attacked states in the northeast to checkmate the activities of suicide bombers.

Recently in Africa, countries like Egypt, Congo, Chad, Cameroun and now Senagal have all banned the wearing of Islamic veil by female muslims following attacks by suicide bombers which claimed the lives of innocent civilians.

My question now is if this smaller countries can take such a drastic measure in order to forestall future occurence of terrorist attacks which I believe was achieved to an extent, why is Nigeria's case different? Is Islamic religion more important than the lives of Nigerians or are the lives of Nigerians not important to the government?

As we have it in the breaking news today that a popular gsm market was attacked in Kano state by 2 female suicide bombers wearing hijab leaving about 15 people dead and many others injured. This is just one of many other similar cases.

We can't continue to lose our fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters and children in the northeast to these barbaric acts of these misguided insurgents.
It is really a pity that life has no meaning in this country anymore. Very pathetic...smh.

Nigeria is ruled by dull, slow thinking and fanatical leaders that exhibit mediocrity in decision making as well as in doing the right thing even in the face of glaring evidence or facts. We are "blessed" with greedy leaders with low IQs.

Since the northerners wants theiir people to be wearing the hijab, allow them be and they should stop telling people that femal bombers has been bombing them.

That Hihab should have been stopped since in order to check these youths been used. They need the hijad and they should continue to experience the problem. It is their problem.

Even niger a muslim country banned hijabs to protect themselves. The abookis should keep wearing their hijabs, at least the bombs are reducing their population. It's their business.

The average self style mor.on on nairaland cannot even read a story and properly comprehend it, it wasn't the hijab that was banned but the niqub which is covers a woman face entirely. Do men also engage in suicide bombing? And they do so inspite of the hijba, meaning the op is another bigot chants who suffers immensely whenever he sees the hijab!

A bigot indeed, even when the idea behind the thread is to create awareness about a possible lapse on the part of the government and save innocent lives wasted on daily basis. You are entitled to your opinion anyway.
