This is not an appropriate CV for a finance minister.

I am not a wailing wailer BTW before you think otherwise. I am firmly for Buhari

Precisely what I said earlier. What constitutes "properly qualified" for them? I suppose, concerning African countries, one would be "properly qualified" according to the economists if you have worked for international organisations like the IMF or World bank. They are comfortable thinking that we are in the dark ages and that the likes of NOI have the appropriate" western 'orientation' and experience that would mean automatic success because they are 'westernised' and can think better than the "savages" they would be leading in Africa. "Teacher don't teach me nonsense" (Fela). We now know better in Nigeria. Local solutions for local problem abeg. Nothing wrong with Adeosun at all in my opinion.

Local solutions? Her problem would be international not local. Being finance minister shouldn't be an on the job training.

Could you tell us, in specific term, what exactly makes unqualified or why she should have be made a minister for state?

There's nothing in her resume that shows she has the capacity to do these;

Duties of minister

Preparation of annual budgetary estimates of revenue and expenditure for the Federal Government.

Determination of Federal Government fiscal policies.

Mobilization of domestic and external financial resources for national development purposes.

Management of foreign exchange reserves.

Management of Federal Government revenue.

Currency valuation.

Except these;

Regulation of the insurance industry

Revenue allocation management.

They should have appointed her the minister of state instead. That one doesn't demand for too rigorous econometrics modeling, advanced knowledge of macro-economics and experience in financial engineering.

As a minister of state for finance, she would be in charge of FAAC and no one would beam any searchlight on her. Nenadi Usman first understudied Ngozi Okonji-Iweala before Obasanjo elevated her. She was able to garner enough boldness, but even at that, she basically focused on paying local contractors all through her tenure.

What The Economist said is not different from what a former VC of a southwest state university said on a national television not long ago.

By making her a substantive finance minister of Nigeria in 2015, Buhari is just setting the country up for serious economic disaster and international mockery. She just doesn't have the capacity to manage Nigeria's economy yet. It's like appointing an assistant lecturer as a vice chancellor of a university.

The professor said there would be a cabinet reshuffle soon. Let's hope they will remedy this serious anomaly.
What are you trying to say. a minister is just a political head of a ministry. There are lots of qualified economists and financial experts as career officers in the ministry. Even if she has no background in economics, there are people who have been doing the job only for the minister to ratify.
Why don't we let her be. At least she was screened by the NASS which comprise of technocrats as well.

What do you mean foreigners?

My point is we have always had home brewed professionals at the helm of affairs before the foreign Okonjo Iweala.

Okonjo Iwealaism has not and should never be a standard for how we pick our finance ministers.

Our finance minister has no business measuring up to the Economist's yardstick for competency.

I wonder ooo.

Because we've had Okonjo Iweala, every other finance minister must be an American/European packaged gift as their contribution to our growth?

Okonjo served her purpose by working together with the OBJ clout to get us debt relief.

Anything after that was mildly beneficial in the long run.

The Economist or whatever they call themselves should be ashamed to label someone with this CV as unqualified for our Finance Minister.

Apart from the president who knows what he wants an FM to achieve for the nation, no other person is qualified to dictate who should be our Finance minister. Not USA, not World Bank, not IMF and surely not the yeye Economist.

With our madam Gele's over qualification on paper, was the economy not ruined under her coordination? It's obvious these Western countries don't wish us well.

I ask again, did NOI leave a robust economy despite unprecedented earnings?

Under her there was massive looting, indiscriminate waivers for luxury goods, failure to improve our savings, failure to diversify the economy, failure to boost earnings from other resources especially solid minerals, more debts to the nation, failure to be able to pay federal workers' salaries in March and April 2015, etc. I can go on and on. So forget her overhyped paper qualification. They may be good to get her a juicy job at the world bank but SHE FAILED with our economy.

Is this what you call a good CV? Smh!
Re: Kemi Adeosun Summarised Cv by Nobody: 5:39pm On Nov 21, 2015
Mrs Kemi Aeosun is better positioned / equipped to outperform the previous Minister. The former finance minister is an economist, while Kemi Adeosun is both an Economist and a chartered accountant with public finance qualification.

Difference between an economist and an accountant

"Economist are great at explaining why the things they predicted yesterday, didn't happen today."
(Evan Esar)

"An accountant is someone who solves a problem you didn’t know you had in a way you don’t understand."
(Anon)

They are mutually exclusive, but knowledge of both can work collaboratively.
An accountant with an economics background (or an economist with an accounting background) could be very useful in corporate / public finance, treasury or investments.
