Revealed: Abiola Ajimobi Instigated His Colleagues To Stop The Payment Of N18,00 by nwanwaoge(m): 6:27pm On Nov 22, 2015
Nigerian governors recently announced that they can no longer pay the N18,000 minimum wage to workers in their respective states. The reason given by them is the dwindling revenue allocation they each now receive from the federal government.
In March 2011, the N18,000 minimum wage was signed to law by the former president Goodluck Jonathan. During this period, the nation was experiencing was can be termed as “Oil Boom” as a barrel of oil was sold at $126 unlike recently when the same is being sold at $41. This has resulted to reduced allocation from the Federal Government to the states.
Most of the states apparently were not prepared for this, so they were caught off guard by this harsh reality and they went broke. Many states could not pay workers salaries for months, states like Osun, Ebonyi, Benue, Plateau and Oyo were mostly hit by this reality. At a point in time, these states were owing their workers up to nine months
salaries. The Federal Government via the Central Bank came to the rescue of the states through bail-out funds, it was until then that most could pay parts of their workers’ salaries.
However, it has been revealed by a reliable source that Governor Abiola Ajimobi instigated his colleagues to agree that they can no longer pay the N18,000 minimum wage.
Governor Ajimobi is the Governor of Oyo state, one of the biggest and most populous states in Nigeria, in fact, Oyo state is the biggest state in the Southwestern part of Nigeria. Workers in the state are currently being owed up to five months salaries by the state as these workers prepare to embark on industrial action.
It is however saddening that a state such as Oyo state that has good natural resources like arable land for agriculture can also be among the states struggling to cope financially.
Although past governors in the state never looked towards the direction of diversifying the economy of the state, especially by investing in agriculture which  is the major occupation of most inhabitants of the state, they all relied heavily on the monthly allocation from the Federal Government.
The current governor, Abiola Ajimobi, who came into power under the umbrella of the APC, promised to diversify the economy of the state, but after spending fours years, nothing has been done in that direction. Instead, the governor has embarked on reckless and frivolous spending in ceremonies.
In a state where most people living below poverty line and workers are owed months of salaries, the governor and his immediate family are often spotted at shopping centres abroad on spending spree, his children are known for throwing opulent parties and jamboree every other week.
Governor Ajimobi has failed the workers of Oyo states who voted heavily for him during the election if truly he instigated the idea of the governors complaining of paying 18,000 stipends to the poor workers of their states

Most people lack focus in life.

Nigerian governors are not left out.

You drive in a 22 car convoy and you tell us your state is bankrupt.. How can you deny a worker N18,000 yet you live like an Arab king ? Buari travels abroad every week from where he makes demarketing statements on Nigeria.

Yet Nigeria is bankrupt.
