This is to notify all who own this sweet SUV of the challenges they MAY encounter, considering that my wifey drives same, and has just faced this problem. (ref https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=135330.msg2275900#msg2275900). After extensive research on the internet, the following are my deductions;
* certainly there exists manufacturer's defects in the transmission/ECU of the ride, even though it has not warrantied a recall by Toyota as the problem rears its ugly head after a long while, mostly after ride is around the >80k mile mark .

* Replacement/ repair costs is well over >200K (naira), in fact, its between USD3000 - 5000.

Advise: If your this is your dream car, maybe you get a manual shift, or let it remain a dream .

The electrician told me that RAV4s have transmission/ECU problems.
