Six suspected killers of the slain PDP gubernatorial aspirant in Ekiti state- Mr Ayodele Daramola were nabbed recently by our own Nigeria Police. They also promised that final investigations are being done also to unravel the killers of Engr. Funsho Williams of Lagos state killed equally at that time. Do you think our police are trying?

You certainly are a police man . What else would warrant this farce of a question? The police are simply uniformed robbers, sucking out private/ public pockets like year long starved jungle lyches!

Some years ago the Nigerian Police "paraded" a group of men who were alleged to be responsible for the murder of pro-democracy activist Alfred Rewane during the Abacha regime.  It later turned out that those "suspects" were in fact brought out of jail cells where they had been for years, and forced to confess to the murder of Rewane that occurred while all the accused were behind bars.  A  Libyan-trained hitman named Sargeant Rogers later confessed to Rewane's murder, along with that of Kudirat Abiola, and was consequently asked to serve a brief holiday in detention, before being quietly released to rejoin his serving military unit.   All hail the Nigerian Police Farce.

And yet when you are in danger they are the same people you will call to risk their lives to help you. You talk about them like they're subhuman. You forget that they are ordinary people like you doing a very dangerous job. There are bad eggs in the police force no doubt about that. But to speak of the entire force like that? Common.

I wonder, if you'll accept a job as a police officer. Seeing as you appear to believe you'll do a far better job. I wonder

Shallow minded people can and will never commend this Innocent people we send out to fight crime with no equipment and weapon, yet they are striving to protect Innocent lives. I HAIL THEE Nigeria Police force from Constable to EFCC. KUDOS

No doubt there are quite a few Nigerian policemen who joined the force to fight crime, and who are doing a great job with poor equipment.  The other side of the coin is that a fair number of Nigerian policemen work in very close cooperation with armed robbers to the extent of even standing guard during armed robbery operations.  It is those numerous "bad eggs" that regularly capture Nigerian newspaper headlines.

A dismissed mobile policeman once told me in confidence that he left the force because he was no longer prepared to continue participating in the murder and robbery of motorists by on-duty mobile policemen whenever vehicle searches uncovered large amounts of cash at police checkpoints.  The policeman's colleagues had concluded plans to silence the officer in question since his declared reluctance to participate in the highway robbery was seen as a threat by the other members of the gang.  Sadly, this activity is NOT rare in the Nigerian Police Force.
