Somebody once said it's a shame that Nigerians pay to shop and park their cars at ikeja shoprite, local and international airports but vehemently kick against tolling federal roads at a period of fallen national resources. Am ok with their view on availability of prepaid Metre before any electricity tariff increase, but on tolling, I think Nlc should show some understanding to the underpinnings of policy shift on the part of govt sometimes 1 Like |

If only they could provide us with prepaid meters and make the electricy a little bit more stable. In my area for example, the PHCH guys are the ones blocking the distribution of Prepaid meters so they can fix the bill according to what they like. To make things worse, they do show up randomly and negotiate payment of a fraction of the doctored bill. It goes to show that the level of corruption. |

chinchum: The removal is a deception, I did a calculation with the new tariff and without fixed charge, I realized it's about 20% increase from what it was. It's a scam they're presenting us. 1 Like |

Why is Nigerian Labour Congress only involved in political issues. I have never heard about NLC intervention on issues such as; the maltreatment of employees by the Lebanese, Chinese and Indian companies. |

Iam a Buhari suppoerter, but this tarrif of a thing is madness,in the month of oct/nov,i can count how many times i saw light in my area,at the end of november phcn supprised us with N13,000 in november alone, first bill in the new house,,on december 14,they show up again with december bill, and i asked, where do you guys got the billing from for i have not used light up to a month. it is total madness,,now instead of hitting the streets to protest this madness, some people will soon appear here to blame buhari as if tarrif increase started under him. |

Fashola, for all the adulations and purrings about how he supposedly transformed Lagos and what not, remains someone at the service of the elite. He's never been a populist-someone for the people. This elitist monster is now rearing its ugly head at the epicentre of governance:the federal level. Is it for the want of imagination or what? You ask people to pay more for services they are being overcharged for for a start, that they don't get value for.It beats the imagination. 3 Likes |

TechWalker007:20% increase for you, it could be 20% decrease for others or more. It is not simply black or white. The fixed charge used to be n750/monthly, so if you use avg of n1,000 supply monthly 1.e a total of 1,750, you will now pay 1,450(45% increase over 1,000), you can see in that scenario, it is a reduction in power cost. if ur monthly avg consumption costs is 1,500, before removal of service charge, you paid 2,250, now u will pay 2,225,i.e about the same price. 2 Likes |

NLC rejects everytin so that they will be appeased. How can 9ja move forward when we have many clogs on the wheel of progress. My only concern is that I need prepaid meter, even if it means buying it. Am saying so because I pay 4 power that I don't use. |

Sibrah:This is what NLC should be fighting, but i notice NLC always treat symptoms of the problem and leave the cause, shame on them. Prepaid meters availability will solve a great chunk of the power problems, NLC should pressure the govt to phase out old meters within a stipulated deadline, Nigerians will learn to conserve what it pays for via a prepaid system. 1 Like |

darlenese:Not in all cases, it depends on your consumption rate. Nigerians do not like to pay for govt services, and wonder why the service is inefficient, someone who spends N1,500 daily to fuel inefficient generator surprisingly will find it difficult to pay 10,000 monthly to power distribution coys to ensure efficient services 1 Like |

I use PPM and I know how terrible that fixed charge is. Take it from me, NLC has nothing to fight here. In fact abolishing the fixed charge makes this increment a blessing on a lot of people. Do your calculations and you will realize that instead of increase in cost you will actually get savings in the cost of electricity depending on your consumption. As for power supply, I put it to you, that this year is the best in my area. 1 Like |

Government is the one putting itself in trouble with this so-called labour union. If govt claimed that the electricity companies have been privatized, why is it involved in announcing the increase in tariffs? They are private companies, they should be left to handle their pricing subject to regulations. The prices of electric cables and fittings that I buy from 'OkeyGod International' were jerked up by 30% last week just because he heard that dollar exchange rate has gone up to N280. Nobody will shout about that but if it had been govt that did that, we would be out on the streets. Traders jerk up prices anyhow during festivities with no whimper from anyone. With low naira value, there is no way the power sector is going to survive on the old tariffs. Simple. 2 Likes |
