Drama ensued in Jericho, a highly populated street in Otukpo area of Benue on Tuesday as residents of the area chased away contractors, who came to give the street ‘a new look’.

Former Senate President, David Mark had flagged off the reconstruction of five street roads in Otukpo.

They include, Ajene, Jericho, Otukpa, Bookshop Road and Chief Entina Road.

The project, which was flagged off on December 1 was expected to reach completion before Christmas day.

However, drama ensued on Tuesday when the contractor arrived with his equipment to commence work but residents of the street converged and asked him to quit.

The enraged residents anchored their reason on the ground that they were tired of seeing abandoned project in the street, saying that they preferred the worn out road which had been abandoned for years.

An eyewitness told our reporter that when the contractor tried to resist the order, some angry youths threatened to beat him up and confiscate his tools.

“He was forced to quit as the people were not ready to let him start the project,” a resident said.

Great decision...

This is what you get when people are not happy with the handling of a public forum and space. At a time when you are impressing your paymaster and can do anyhow.
The voice of the people that you have maltreated and put in pathetic shape would ensure your downfall.

They are overzealous and lack guidance leading them to loose goodwill and support.

He just wants to give the road a facelift because of the festive period and the guests that will be visiting him. All these politicians are so selfish and only think about themselves alone.

If the people continue to resist bad leadership like this, sooner that later, the politicians will start to be responsive and responsible.

Wise decision by the young lads. Enough of politicians using deceptive tactics to win elections. Did David Mark suddenly realize - after 16yrs as senator and 8yrs as SP - that his people need good road?

This is a good first step by the youths but they need to go for the jugular by voting him out of the Senate. Time to flip the cards. Politicians need to learn that they are accountable to the people, else nothing for them..

I can't blame them. I am related to this man but the truth is that he has done little to nothing for Idomas. He keeps on talking about how he has made "human investments," however putting money in one man's hand does nothing for the plethora of poor people at the grassroots. And now he wants to build roads and distribute rice? It's too late.

The sensible thing is to allow the contractor finish it.
And then in 90 days time, still vote out David Mark.

So if David Mark is no more the good people of Idoma land would suffer?

Sometimes you guys don't realise how you convince the neutrals not to accept your candidate.

Nigerian greedy Politicians, wish the Middle belt can wake up and not sell their conscience.

I repeat again " Is David Mark the only Graduate in Idoma Land? Somebody else should replace that old Fool. Does he need a Soothsayer to read the Handwriting on the Wall?

This is interesting. He got what he deserved I must say. 16 years was not enough to do something tangible for his people, it's when he saw an imminent failure that he woke up.

Guess who is here again. grin grin grin
