Senator Shehu Sani , SENATOR Federal Republic of Nigeria and Civil Rights Activist. on November 1993, General Sani Abacha took over government from Shonekan. Shehu Sani organized a mass protest against his government which made the military leader arrest him again. He was taken to a Military Tribunal and sentenced to Life in prison for Treason. Sani and former president Olusegun Obasanjo even shared a cell together during the latter's prison sentence. He was released from life imprisonment when democracy was restored in Nigeria in 1998, see photos below.

How time flies

This same man even claimed he witnessed the brutal hanging of Ken Saro Wiwa wen he was in detention, he narrated how they were led (all hooded) to the gallow room which was directly his own cell and one by one (Saro Wiwa went first) being hanged by the hangman in a most dehumanizing manner afterwards their corpses were destroyed with acidic contents.......men the military can be animalistic sometimes but I still prefer them to this comedy we called "democracy".
