Governors of the Odu’a Investment owner States rose from a meeting in Ibadan on Tuesday resolving on a five year plan to raise the revenue base of the conglomerate.

Reading the communiqué of the meeting, Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko said the owner states resolved, among others, to raise the revenue base of the company from N4bn to N20bn in 2019.

Present at the meeting were Senator Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) and Deputy Governors Moses Adeyemo and Dr Kolapo Ishola of Oyo and Ekiti States respectively.

The meeting which had members of board of the Odu’a Companies in attendance was held at the Cocoa House, Ibadan.

The communiqué announced the resolution to admit Lagos State as one the owner States.

Mimiko said the owner states have agreed to reposition O’dua Investment as the engine room of the economic growth and development of the South West, and have approved a five-year strategic plan that will grow the company’s’ revenue base from N4b to 20bn by the year 2019

“We have agreed to admit Lagos State as part of Odua group. And because of this renewed interest in Odua as the engine room of the economic growth of the southwest. We as governors and proprietors so decided that we will now meet the board and management quarterly”

The issue of Oodua investment is beyond mere repositioning, its was a multinational coy between 1999 and 2003 wen it was controlled by Alliance for Democracy governors but it became morribound wen PDP and other parties took control of SW states which is why tinubu pulled lagos out of d deal but bringing Lagos back to the table should move it forward.
I just think if all d states has almost equal stakes will make it more formidable and will allow it to be at d Stock market

This is nice grin

And its even nicer when you consider that Mimiko and Fayose are in unison with the other governors from APC.

Glad they're letting go party affiliations and are looking at the bigger picture.

Wish them the very best.

How come lagos was not included in the first place, does it mean lagos is not truly yoruba and because of the fear of loosing lagos, they are now doing every thing possible to make it yoruba?.....just asking though.

We knew the usual suspects (Igbo land grabbers) would show face. cheesy You Biafrans that know next to nothing about the history of Lagos, yet have the effrontery to poke your noses in her affairs. Read the following quote. Perhaps that will educate you and your ignorant ilk a bit about some Lagos facts:

OAUTemitayo:
The recent announcement by the governors of the owner states of Odua group of companies is not only commendable, it is a right step in the right direction.

Given the fact that the owners of Lagos state are the Yorubas, it is imperative that they benefit from the largess of the efforts of our past leaders who decided to establish several industries across the length and breadth of Yorubaland in order to create employment for the sons and daughters of Yorubaland.

It is a valid fact that majority of the present day Lagos was formerly part of the then Western state.

About seventeen out of the twenty local government areas in Lagos today were part of the Western state then.

Since the then Western state also generated revenue from areas like Ikeja and co, the indigenes of Lagos deserve to be among the owners of Odua Group of Companies.
I hope the Yoruba speaking part of Kogi and Kwara, Itsekiru and the Edos will one day have this gesture extended to them.
Kudos South West Governors.

Well done Governors. Your Investments should include building of Ranchers and Agricultural Husbandries in at least five cities of each of your states to combat illegal movements of recalcitrant saboteurs.

Probably wanted nothing to do with PDP STATES after OBJ's tricky machinations that culminated in the annihilation of AD & 'mandate robberies' of other Sw states circa 2003..... Great that the family is back intact.... smiley smiley

ODUA Investment Limited... Had deep respect for the company and what it stood for but all that changed when I was awarded scholarship in school back then but didn't get my full payment. The organization's management was terrible.

Ever got "Half of half" the pay you were supposed to get? I did. The management is killing that organization.

Anyway, I still represent OMOLUABI anyday. It ain't easy being the top 40 in your state.

This is not true maybe you can substantiate.

The truth though is that when Lagos State was created it was shortchanged. The greater part of Lagos State was in the Western Region( Not Western State which was created the same day as Lagos state. In fact of the 12 states created that day Lagos is the only one that still remains.Another matter...........)

A good example is Airport Hotel Ikeja which is part of Odu'a group. Ikeja used to be part of the Western Region but was added to Lagos state on creation and Lagos state did not get any of the Odu'a assets even though places like Epe Badagry Ikeja Mushin Agege were all Western Region.
Why was Ikeja attractive as capital of the new state ? Because Awolowo made it so and by right Lagos should have been a Shareholder from day one

All the major industrial estates that remains Nigeria's industrial power house from Ikeja industrial estate to Apapa, Matori, Ilupeju, Mushin industrial estates were all created by Awolowo as part of the Western Region.

Lagos was never a part of the odua investment. The lagos as you think of it today never existed.
Lagos was deliberately left out as part of an overall strategy.
Lagos has swallowed a series of towns and farming settlements.
The national capital territory which the British leased did not extend beyond yaba and somewhere close to lekki .From yaba onward was the western region.
This was the reason why ibadan was Regarded as the largest city in West Africa even though lagos was already bigger ( if you use today's definition of lagos)
It also played well with the gedegbe le ko wa and shortsighted conservative folks.
Because of the proximity of the hostile federal territory, long term projections made it necessary to exclude lagos . Even though most of the investment were in lagos.
However all the benefit of membership were extended. Like university admission, bursaries, scholarships etc.
Even today, most lagos indigens get their education in state universities in the other western states.
