Adjective: How To Describe People's Weight by Benyinka(m): 2:48pm On Jan 20, 2016
When we describe people’s weight, we use adjectives. Adjectives are used to describe nouns and pronouns; they tell us their nature, attributes or qualities.

It is important to know which words to use for particular persons with particular physical qualities so as to be precise and polite.

*Fat is common, but impolite.
*Large or heavy is less offensive.
*Plump means slightly fat in an attractive way (often used to describe women).
*Chubby is used for babies and children who are fat in a pleasant, healthy-looking way.
*Tubby is a friendly way to describe people who are short and round, especially around the stomach.
*Stocky means fairly short, broad and strong.
*Stout is used for older people who have a round and heavy appearance.

*Thin is common, but sometimes used with negative meaning.
*Skinny and bony are also offensive.
*Slim means pleasantly thin (often used for women who have controlled their weight).
*Slender (girl) means thin and graceful.
*Lean (man) means thin and fit.
*Willowy describes a woman who is attractively tall and thin.
