If you’ve been keeping up with mobile technology trends in Nigeria, it shouldn’t sound surprising to hear that Infinix is one of the top smartphone vendors in West Africa. Having comfortably proven its name as a family brand with previous releases such as the first generation Infinix Zero, Zero 2, Hot, Hot 2 and the Hot Note, the multinational telecomms outfit Infinix is back with a bang as it takes the veils off the company’s latest product, the Android 5.1 Lollipop-running Infinix Zero 3.

Lets get straight to the point; the Zero 3 takes a bold step away from the previous Zero remixes in terms of specs while retaining the lineup’s sleek metal and glass design. That is to say, the Infinix Zero 3 is much bigger and higher spec’d than last year’s Zero 2 – and the difference is slightly reflected by the price tags of the two smartphones (the Zero 2 is priced N48k while the new Zero 3 goes for N52k).

Talking about the specs, the Zero 3 drives its points home with an ample Super AMOLED touchscreen that measures 5.5 inches and has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The phone is powered by the much touted Helio X10 processor from MediaTek which is an array of a 2.2GHz-clocked octa-core CPU, a PowerVR G6200 graphics processor and MT6795 System-on chip. A notable 3GB of RAM is present while the phone’s storage capacity is 16GB by default but you can introduce a microSD card via a provided port next to the side-sliding SIM card slot.

In terms of photography, the Infinix Zero 3 employs an unnamed 20.7MP sensor (which is likely Sony-made) for the main camera while a 5MP selfie taker stands at the front. The back camera is aided by a dual-tone LED flash for lightening and advanced color balancing.

Finally, the Zero 3 is supplied current by a non-removable 3030mAh battery whose capacity could be termed inadequate by certain standards (considering the size of the screen). The body itself measures 7.1 mm thin and tips the scale at 120 grams.

From my own point of view, the Zero 3 wouldn’t be a very huge hit in terms of sales, however, with the popular demand for very affordable smartphones in the Nigerian tech market, the Zero 3 could easily had scored a crowd favorite if it sported a sub 30,000 naira SRP like the first Infinix Zero which came out in September 2014 with a 22,000 naira price tag.

I have been talking about the Infinix Zero 3 cameras over here -->> http://tech-ish.com/2016/01/23/infinix-zero-3-full-camera-review-11/

I love the fact that the back camera uses the same lens from Xperia devices and the Moto X Style
