Two policemen attached to the OgborHill Police Division inAba, Abia State, were killed by gunmen suspected to be armed robbers when they responded to a distress call at a supermarket near Ukaegbu Junction, along Ikot Ekpene Road, Ogbor Hill.Abia State Police spokesman,DSPEzekiel Onyeke, who confirmed the incident, told Vanguard that the police teamgot a distress call from a resident that armed robbers were operating in their area.According to Onyeke, “the police team responded toa distress call, but the robberswere on their way back whenthey met thepolice team and opened fire. Two policemen were shot dead, while others sustained injuries.”He disclosed that the injured policemen were now receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital in the cityand appealed to the public to assist the police with useful information that could lead tothe arrest of the robbers.Teenager commits suicideIn another development, traders behind Ndoki Primary School, Ngwa Road, have been thrown into shock following the discovery of a corpse of a yet-to-be identified teenager, whoallegedly committed suicide in one of the open shops in the area.The situation forced many traders to close shop for fear of police arrest.
