At that time it was known as Grade 1. The best students made Grade 1. Most of them would gain automatic entry into Prelim.. in various Universities.
They were the prize winners, they gave the valedictory speech, parents will use them as examples that other children must emulate.
So the pain was..how did a Grade 1 scholar become a Marwa Driver(Keke Marwa was also purchased for him by friends). Further questions from me also revealed that in the same class,same school are countless notable Nigerians. Some of them came out with Grade 3, Some with Grade 2.
The most important curriculum which Parents and Schools must also pay close attention to is the CURRICULUM for life. It goes beyond the classroom. It goes beyond grades.
