That might not be true because evry appointed cbn governor hs a tenure of 5 yrs to use and he hasn't spend upto that and if buhari does I think that's a wrong step to take.he needs the company of sound economist in this nation to address the economical situation.this will also aid the cbn policies or better still he should go look for wisemen who knows the way out.
Re: Buhari May Sack Emefiele ‘Any Moment From Now’ - Ripples by Demoore(m): 8:11pm On Feb 17, 2016
This is false.

President Buhari lacks the power to sack the CBN Governor.

The most President Buhari can do is to suspend Emefiele for various acts of financial recklessness and misconduct which are inconsistent with the CBN Act;s vision of a Central Bank propelled by the core values of focused economic management, prudence, transparency and financial discipline; based on an indictment from FRCN. Only the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) is empowered to indict the CBN Governor, which can then trigger the President to suspend him till investigations are concluded.

seunmsg:

The president can remove the CBN governor by an address to the senate stating the governor has been found guilty of gross misconduct and of course, with the approval of two third of members of the senate.

If this news is true, PMB should please appoint an Economist as the new CBN governor. We don't need another deposit money bank MD as CBN governor at this point in time. We need a governor that can think through monetary policies before deciding on them.

Do you know what is tyranny? Buhari is not a tyrant, he is just being disciplined, and when emefiele was dishing out money he didn't remember rule of law.

Let him do it and receive the hammer of the IMF. The office of the Governor of the apex bank of any nation is an autonomous position acting as a representative of the IMF and World Bank in all the respective nation members of the IMF. Just like the NFF, the president has no legal backing to sack and hire the individuals heading this institutions. Emefiele has a tenure of four or five years, the president can only swallow the bitter pill and work with him, or do the impossible and risk turning this nation into an island. But of course, the president is a Nepa certificate holder surrounded by phools

That's a blatant lie.

No central bank governor represents the interest of IMF and World Bank. IMF and World Bank have country offices headed by directors who oversee their interests.

Central banking is not football league.

Emefiele is grossly inefficient, he is serving the interests of the bankers who put him there. He should be edged out somehow.

But Buhari will still underperform regardless of anyone he appoints. No matter how stellar anyone's achievement has been, the moment you agree to serve under Buhari, your records will be in jeopardy. And he will accuse you of sabotage. It's not a curse neither is it a prayer, Buhari does not have the capacity to lead Nigeria. He didn't have the capacity in the 1980s and doesn't have it now. He didn't improve himself for over 3 decades.

The country is already messed up within just 8 months. There's another round of fuel scarcity 'brewing'. The last one ended last month. Each round of Nigeria's fuel scarcity wipes out substantial savings from the pocket of the common folks and further impoverish the vulnerables.

Nigeria's institutions are being decimated systematically.

Emefiele should leave already.

Buhari does not have such powers, but Jonathan had the powers to suspend Soludo? Well the FRCN is still functional, since it was created only to recommend the suspension of CBN governor, it can be made to recommend the suspension of Emefiele also.

That is pure horsepoo. The Nigerian Central Bank is an entity that was created for the sole purpose of creating and managing monetary policy. The CBN was created by Nigeria for Nigeria.

Hi everyone, there's an opportunity to learn how to make fruit juice here in Vietnam from a reputable university. The fees is quite affordable and the visa procurement is cheap and fast. This is what Nigerians need in this time of harsh economic downturn to secure a better future. It's better to invest in skill acquisition programmes and be sure of employment tomorrow than to spend years in the university and roam the street. The interested person should contact Mr Kenneth with the this number: +84902856282 or lifegoalministries@.com. The course will start at the middle of March 2016.

Quite true.

I think its time to appoint an economist because another banker in the saddle will mean disaster for the nation. They are good at covering each others tracks and will not do a nything to hurt the policies that benefit them collectively.

professor Charles Soludo was a pain in the arse to te banking community. He ruffled feathers and made daring changes to the Nigerian Banking and Financial instutions environment. Soludo had his own failings but he provided the groundwork for change in the banking industry and the Nigerian economy.
