Hello everyone.

This thread is for Mountain Top Fiotball club.

On 31 August 2015, Mountain of Fire Ministry FC, a football club owned by the church, achieved a rare feat by gaining promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League.
By this, the club broke a 22-year jinx by becoming the first Lagos-based side to play in the elite division. Founded in 2007, MFM FC acquired a slot to play in the professional ranks in unusual circumstances.
Toyin Gafar, a Muslim and owner of Bolowotan FC, offered his club’s slot in the Nigeria National Division One League to MFM — then playing in the Amateur Division One League — for free in 2013.Interestingly, Gafar snubbed a N16m-offer from a state for the club, preferring to hand it over to a church.

Two years later, the club, against all odds, sealed a spot in the NPFL, becoming the first club owned by a church to compete at that level in
Nigerian football.

Another major milestone for the club came in 2014, when they became the best football playing church in the world after trashing United Church of Colombia 7-0 in the final of the maiden edition of The Church World Cup in Goa, India

We are glad to tell you that MFM FC got off to a winning start in the Nigeria premier league after they defeated home team Nasarawa United 2-1 on Sunday.

As early as the 18th minute MFM FC took a surprise lead when Musa Newman scored from a goalmouth scramble much to the dismay of the Nasarawa United team.

MFM's diminutive attacking midfielder Chukwuma Emmanuel who had been a thorn in the flesh of United's defence and like a piece of cake found himself face to face alone with Danlami Umar in goal for United, he scored to double our lead with a clinical finish in the 33rd minutes.

Ifeanyi Nweke pulled a goal back for Nasarawa in the 75th minute, but the home team could not muster enough to at least get a share of the spoils on the day.

MFM FC will play their next game against Rivers United this Wednesday at their Agege Stadium.

MFM FC go top of the Nigeria League after victory against Rivers United Yesterday.

A very good first-half display by our boys (MFM) FC set the tone for a 2-1 victory over Rivers United in a highly-entertaining (NPFL) contest at the Agege Stadium in Lagos on Yesterday.

MFM fc went ahead in the 18th minute through an Ifeanyi Ifeanyi penalty after Olatunbosun Sikiru was fouled by the United captain, Festus Austin.

That lead was doubled six minutes later in exhilarating fashion by Olatunbosun who dribbled pass United Goalie Sunday Rotimi following a lightning break that left the United defenders gasping for breath.

MFM were flying and could easily have added two more goals before the break with Joseph Douhadji making a goal-line clearance off a Musa Newman chip in the 31st minute while Olatunbosun had a rocket beaten out unconventionally by Sunday Rotimi in the 37th minute.

Rivers United improved after the restart of the 2nd half when Ivorian Guenan Guy Nonance was brought on to add urgency to the attack. The move paid off with the Ivorian crossing with pin-point accuracy from the right for an unmarked Obomate Frederick to head home from close range.

United came close to levelling matters but Chigozie Ihunda’s powerful drive was pushed onto the post by a diving MFM goalkeeper, James Aiyeyemi.

Aiyeyemi was again called into action in the 70th minute and his stupendous double save denied Obomate and then Ali with United almost celebrating a second goal.

United continued to press for the equaliser but were eventually made to pay for their slow start as MFM held out for maximum points.

MFM will travel to Ibadan for their next game against Shooting Stars this weekend.

Our Boys suffered first defeat of the season

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) striker, Wasiu Jimoh scored the first hat-trick of the new Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season to give his side a 3-0 win over high flyers MFM FC of Lagos at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

Jimoh pounced on an error from MFM goalkeeper James Aiyeyemi to give his side the lead as early as the 4th minute and soon added his brace in the 19th minute before completing his hat-trick nine minutes before halftime. No further goals were added in the second half as the game ended the way first half ended.

The win made it the first league win of the season for veteran coach Kadiri Ikhana’s 3SC team, while MFM suffered their first defeat of the season, having maintained an hundred percent record before today’s clash with the Oluyole Warriors.

"3SC were clearly the better side and ably deserved their hard fought victory. We will keep working on the errors until we get it 100 per cent right.

“We have to work on the errors on the goalkeeper as well as the point men before the next matches.

“Football is all about you win, draw or lose. Today (Saturday) we have lost an important match. We have taken the result in good fate while we work hard to reclaim the points in our next home match against Sunshine Stars,” said llechukwu to supersport.com.

MFM FC have chalked six points out of a maximum of nine in the three-week old Nigerian top flight.

MFM FC are back to winning ways after they defeated Sunshine Stars.

Our boys defeated Akure giants Sunshine Stars 2 – 1 at the Agege Stadium yesterday, to continue to spring surprises in the Nigerian Premier League.

After losing quite a number of glorious chances, former Sunshine Stars striker Musa Newman opened the scoring in the 25th minute against his old club.

Kadri Samad leveled scores for ‘The Akure Gunners’ in the 39th minute off Stanley Dimgba's pass after he had dashed down the flank, as both teams went into the break with the score level.

The second half was full of excitement and drama with MFM’s Newman Musa and Sunshine’s Afolabi dazzling the opposition respectively and just at the closing stages, Substitute Stephen Odey scored the winner for MFM with four minutes to end the game.

Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu's men started the game with an early attack as Ifeanyi Ifeanyi’s right-footed curling shot went side netting after three minutes of play. The home side dominated possession in the first quarter of the match and piled pressure on the visitors defence.

The visitors were luck not to have conceded a goal in the 22nd minute as strikers Sikiru Olatunbosun and Stephen Odey’s shots found a brick-wall in the defence of Rangers.

The Flying Antelopes settled into the game and netted the first goal of the match in the 37th minute with Obinna Nwobodo slotting home the opener. The first 45 minutes of the match ended with the visitors taken a one-goal lead.

Match Report: Warri Wolves pip MFM FC

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos suffered their first defeat in four Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matches on Sunday against Warri Wolves Football club of Warri in Delta State.

It was a bad day in the office for the Olukoya Boys at the Warri City Stadium despite dominating the game in the first five minutes.

MFM fc got a free kick three minutes into the encounter, it was taken by Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, but Warri Wolves goalkeeper, Rhogbere Tejiri pushed the ball away for a corner kick.

Warri Wolves only shot at goal in the first half came in the 10th minute of the match after a fine build up play as John Odumegwu effort hit the cross bar.

The Olukoya Boys gave the hosts some moment to worry about following a well taken free kick by former under 20 midfielder, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi ,his shot was parried by Tejiri.

The first 45 minutes ended with both teams going into the dressing room with a goalless draw following a heavy downpour.

Ogbenewo Uzezi 50th minute sublime shot was properly taken care of by MFM fc stand in goalkeeper, Egbe Ospino who pulled a superb save to deny the hosts their opener.

MFM FC Coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu made his first substitution of the match 10 minutes into the second half as teenage striker, Stephen Odey replaced Festus Ajah.

Both teams didn’t find the game easy as the rain restricted the bounce and movement of the ball thus making it very hard for the players to string passes together.

However, Oghenewo Uzezi put the homers in front with a 71th minute strike that beat MFM FC goalkeeper, Ospino who had a decent performance in between the sticks before he conceded the goal.

Striker Sikiru Olatunbosun was substituted in the 78th minute of the game for Adekunle Adegboyega and Atu Paul Irumekhai for captain Kenedium Nelson.

Kenedium stabilised the midfield while Adekunle troubled Wolves defenders with good runs and dribbles, Odey on the other hand showed some flashes of brilliance in the attack but the SeaSiders defenders stood tall to deny the visitors their equaliser.

The fans were thrilled with good display of football from both teams with the match officials doing a yeoman’s job.

The Lagos-based club now sit in 8th spot on the NPFL log with 16 points from 11 League matches. They will host Wikki Tourists in Match Day 12 coming up this weekend at the Agege Stadium.

MFM FC goalkeeper, Abayomi Folarin who was outstanding in the first half of the match continued with his clean sheet performance when he made a breath-taking save in the 67th minute when Phillip Auta tested him with a long range shot.

The visitors came close to getting a goal in the 71st minute after goalkeeper Folarin was beaten but his defender, Abisoye Olawale was quick to deny the Lafia-based team a goal with a goal line clearance with his head.

The Lagos-based team continued to ask questions with the impressive Olatunbosun troubling the visitors defence while the likes of stand in captain, Opara Austin, midfielder Oshobe Oladele gave a very good account of themselves.
