I use gtbank naira bank and their exchange rate is just so crazy even when the naira is appreciating.. CBN should call these banks to order. How can different banks be exchanging at different rates. Are they not in d same country? I tire o.. I school in d carribean and gtbank exchanges 1EC dollar for 110 naira while Skye exchanges 1EC dollar for 73 naira.. I Dont Just understand.

The naira was floated. The cbn can't really force banks to sell at a specific rate. That was the idea- let demand and supply rule.
Clearly, avoiding monopoly is key but unless the cbn can monitor online and atm transactions, I don't see how the banks will stop the high rates.
Maybe until a 'glo' changes the game.

Also, keep in mind that the interbank rate is the one usually quoted- how much banks buy from each other.
This is the wholesale or dealer rate for forex.
The retail rate is what each bank decides to charge you.
This rate will likely be higher than bdc or aboki rates because of online transactions which you have to use your account for, hence being at the mercy of your bank.

Please what's the rate of dollar when receiving western union in either first bank or Skye bank. Or other banks sef. Now negotiation era we dey. Please help.

how can one pay online now that there is limit to what you can spend internationally via the banks naira card? Like Stanbic you can not spend more than 50usd a day.
