Port Harcourt was created in 1912. The road that linked Port harcourt to the Ikwere towns in present Obio Akpor was the OWERRI ROAD WHICH WAS CHANGED TO IKWERE ROAD.. . Then Diobu was created as a satelite town.. All the rumu in Obio Akpor were Igbo families farm land turned towns and settled by different people.. There are no natives in them. Therefore such neighborhood like Rumubiakana was umubiakani , Rumumasi was umumasi and so on. There were no natives there cos the places were farm land for Igbo migrants just as Igbos would have farmland in Kaduna and KANO. iF YOU DO NOT KNOW ABOUT A PLACE do not argue about it. That was why all the old secondary schools were in PORT HARCOURT.. ENITONNA, BAPTIST , STELLA MARIS and so on.. ABULOMA was just like a fishing port and the only thing there was the federal govt girls col which was in the forest and not at a town. The Old GRA was European quarters and the UTC road today was the only link road linking Port Harcourt and Diobu.. Do not be arguing about other peoples places.. DEVELOPMENT IS GOING EVERY WHERE AND TODAY even ELEME, CHOBA, OKRIKA, IGWURUTA are bearing the name PORT Harcourt. soon ELELE AND Isiokpo will also bear Port Harcourt..

Some of you Igbos make people hate you by how you blindly and stupidly argue about things.. IDIOT... DID YOU KNOW WHEN KALABARI AND OKRIKA fought over ISAKA in Port Harcourt ?What else was PORT Harcourt..Even when I was in Comprehensive Borikiri we still refered to ENEKA and ELELENWA as Villages and not even close to Port Harcourt..

Back then peeps else where would say Town which is the short form of Port Harcourt town... Instead of saying Port Harcourt town it was shortened to Town..

The Ikwerres have been recognized as a distinct tribe, as far back as pre-Independence.

The picture might be dated to 1958 but the time it was actually put on the website and labelled could have been more recent when Ikwerres were already seen as a distinct tribe of its own.
