EACH STANZA, A BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN A WOMAN WHO WILLS TO OVERCOME HER BROKEN HEART AND A MAN WHO LOVES HER SO.

HER
You carve your heart out
Wear it on your sleeves
And expose it to thieves
With sinister thoughts and dubious deeds

HIM
You watch it wither
Let them flay the edges
In time your heart recovers
Your will to protect come whatever

HER
E'en though its withered wrinkled and old
This weak old heart pumps love so true and bold
The one true treasure, loyal to the fold.
The platform upon which trust bargained, betrayal sold
The one true weakness wherein you find your strength, The one that suffers fears to stay at arms length

HIM
On finding lost truth and relieve
Your heart remains forever hell bent.
Tell me woman do you believe
In such a reality heaven sent?

HER
There is a reminder singing
As my heart thumps I am, I am, I am.
Of this reality, this purity
Wait for it, I can, I can, I can.

HIM
And I implore you to seek it
You shall, you shall, you shall
For woman of purpose, if I cannot push
I am not the man I say I am

HER
So I stand in the rainstorms
Scream for the worst to come
I stand on parched lands
And thrive in sinking sands.
I'm not moving.
Here I'll stand
Until my own will find my hand.

HIM
You choose to stand against the illusion
An inspiring choice and such resolute calm
Take my hand and let us strike the land
Water can flow and wet the parched sand
Miracles can grow in the harshest of lands

HER
Miracles have grown in the harshest of lands
I carved my heart out
And wear it on your sleeves

HIM
I safeguard it in cloth
In adoration and love
Storm clouds hold discourse above
I need one more heart to make believe
One that came from you and needs a father to see

Good Girl
I was raised to keep quiet
and let life pass me by.
No one ever told me
It was okay to fight.
No one ever told me
They had faith in me.
I was raised to keep quiet
and life has passed me by.

SISTER BROTHER

Hindsight's the sister of regret
"What ifs" tease attempts to forget.
Random objects mirror moments of reflection
Dejection's the brother of rejection.

He had tears in his shoes
And hope in his eyes
He was singing the blues
When the sun was in the sky

I wondered where he had been
And what all he had seen

I met a raven dark as tar
He was Perched by my window,
a miserable lone star
His eyes reflected my sorrow
His darkness mirrored my gloom
In him I found company
A single misery in two bodies

I met a raven
I found a star
A lousy blackbird no one wanted
He was just crow
But my lonely soul was comforted
All of My thoughts he cooed
All of My dreams he wooed

I met a raven stoic and brave
Who saw, who salved
The darkness within
He wouldn't let me cave
He always said to me
"all will be well, time will tell
But From now until then
Look out your window
You will always find me"

I met a raven with black plumage
He gave me life with his croaking call
I fed him carrion, we had a ball
For once in my life I cracked a smile
But soon his flock arrived
He flapped his wings, he left
Never once did he look back
All I ever wanted, all I ever lost
