This is just a piece written to mount pressure on the government to devalue the naira for their selfish interest but it isn't going to work. We can see through their ploy. Crying more than the bereaved.

although the article doesn't mention this directly, its implied summary is yet another attempt at forcing currency devaluation, otherwise they haven't said anything new... Mr president is resolute on non devaluation and i agree with that policy.

Where are all those seasoned economist and financial experts that Nigeria boasts of constantly? Why do we need a man sitting thousands of miles away enjoying a sound economy telling us how grim our lives will soon be?
Where is that economic team Buhari formed sometime back?
Can't they talk to us about the State of our Nation!!!

Growth in Africa’s biggest economy and oil exporter slowed to 2.8 percent last year, the weakest level since 1999 and down from 6.2 percent recorded in 2014.

President Dullard is here to take us back to the 80s.

I pity this country. I clamored during the election period that no serious organization that wants to move forward will use an old man 72 as her manager yet u people said Sai Buhari.
How many serious organizations have u seen technically headed by an Hausa apart from Nigeria institutions where they flood by quota system?
73 year old Hausa man who all through his life despite been in government could only boast of 150 cows and 900k, u put him in power and expect things to be good.
We are in it together.

They want us to devalue the naira so as to make manufacturing costlier, thereby killing the local industry. Subsequently, they will take over our economy and dictate our policies. Angola yielded to the advice of IMF and today their economy is struggling to recover even as oil prices have dipped. If the CBN finally devalues and we remove import restrictions, its only a matter of time for coke to be sold for 200 naira.

As an economist..... I dare say categorically, that the only way out of this mess is not devaluation per se, but the abolition of this two tiered currency regime we have currently, and let market forces determine the price of the dollar,.
The government should not officially devalue because that would be foolishness, but holding in to 199 .5 to the dollar is not sustainable in the long run.

And that idiot president of ours have to keep his mouth shut.
He saying in public that he will not devalue compromises the autonomy of the apex bank. If at all 5he doesn't want devaluation, he should communicate with the governor IN PRIVATE instead of talking rubbish on tv.
