Governor Ambode, Lagos State House of Assembly (Committee on Education) and the Director at the Library must hear this information.

For several years, the Lagos State Library at the old secretariat, complex has two computers for users library usage purpose. However, these computers are just for decoration as the performance level is zero for most of the time. For almost three years, one of the two computers went bad as a result of swapping a faulty external power supply with the good power supply attached to the computer. The other was attacked with virus for almost three years and cannot be used effectively till mid last year. Since the 3rd quarter of last year, No active antivirus on public systems, no internet connection to update antivirus. To worsen the matter, the library assistant is not computer literate (computer stark illiterate).

Since July last year, the only system that is manageable stopped working as a result of bad electrical extension cable that supplies power from the wall socket to the computer and a standing fan. Extension cable is less than =N=2,000 in the market. Power supply to power a computer that stopped working almost 3 years ago is not more than =N=5,000.

I write this information to stop corruption and for proper library management in Lagos State. For corruption, I noticed computers systems are replaced after a pre determined number of years of service in the Library. Ever since I started using the Library some years back, computers have been replaced twice. These computers are not been used, except, they are used to replace faulty computer in the Library staff office. Faulty computer is then placed for decoration at the Library and later replaced with new ones which go the same way.

Users have since forgotten that computers exist in the Library and are now using their laptops. However, the Library assistant keeps harassing users who come to Library with their laptops.

The Director at the Library is a fine gentleman but all these problems are hidden from him. These problem dated back to the era of the former Director (madam)
