am using a sony ericsson p800 mobile fone & found out it is runing on a symbian platform but the unfortunate thing about it is that anything java does not run on my fone,i cant even check my email because most pages r java scripts.so anybody know want i should do to enable java run.

how about installing another browser program ??

java and javascript are 2 different things.
u need to check the java version u are installing whether it is supported by your phone. just because p800 is running on symbian os7 doesnt mean what worked on other os7 symbian fones like the 6600 will work even if the fones share the same java version. why? because of the user interfaces: 6600 is symbian Os7 Series 60, p800 is symbian os7 UIQ 2.0. this means that u must get your hands on java apps designed for pen-based devices. also, the profiles for which the app was coded for counts.
look for apps designed for these profiles: j2me, MIDP 1.0 (same as the sendo x but different from all other symbian os7 phones, which are MIDP 2.0), CLDC 1.0, JTWI (null).
all other Pxxx seris eg p9xx above are MIDP 2.0 CLDC 1.0 compliant. 

1. j2me(java 2 micro edition) is a set of standards and configurations designed by sun microsystems to be implemented in building java runtime environments in small devices, such as handsets. according to sun in their java site, such combinations of configurations and profiles are meant to met specific device capabilities, hence the incompatibility across symbian UI platforms.

2. CLDC (connected limited device configuration) outlines the developer libraries and java virtual machine (im sure u know what that is as long as you have a browser) that must be implemented in j2me.

3. profiles are higher level APIs (application programming intertface) that, in combination with certain configurations, provide a complete runtime environment targeted at specific device categories. this defines the application life cycle model, the user interface, networking capabilities, and access to device specific properties. Profiles are designed and integrated to meet the needs of specific industry segments (again, such as mobile phones).

4. MIDP (Mobile Information Device Profile), which is designed for mobile phones and entry-level PDAs, is an example of a profile for CLDC

i don't really have a clue what JWTI is and im unable to dig it up, but i very much believe it has to do with the coding of MIDlets (as java apps are known in geekspeak).
. hope this sort of puts things in perspective for regarding why some java apps refuse to run in your phone, even though th info is reallly meant for developers.

Opera mini is a java based application (It's written in Java). I am sure that's what naoteny was saying. It's a java app, period!
