I am not in any way supporting the sch authority buh we need to look at this story from a diff angle.

First some1 dat was sick since has the strength to slap a senior prefect? The fact is that dis girl is rude and her rudeness landed her wat she got.

When I was young, my own father's flogging was more dan dis, we wer all corrected manually, either with a knock, slap, koboko or flogged with an electric cable. Today I am happy because in my full street, der is no family that is as responsible as mine. We are 6 boys in number nd we are all graduates, non of us was a cultist, if not for the manual reset we would hav followed our peers in d area and by now mayb I would be in oshodi park as a tout.

Parents should learn to beat their kids, we are africans, we only understand beating. If it was me nd dis gal came to dis house like dis, I would still give her even if it's a knock, den tak her to d clinic after dat, I would go to the sch alone without my child knowing I went ther to talk to the principal an we would settle dis amicably.

That's what happens when you put your child in a school like Eva Adelaja. Everyone is frustrated there and will take their frustration out on your children.

See impunity of wickedness in Nigeria.
Because her husband is a Brigadier-General in the Nigerian Army, the demonic school principal and her gang of fellow demonic teachers brutalized a 14 year old girl child. That teacher named Mr. Bello that forced her to UnCloth and flogged her buttocks should be charged for sexual assault. He would have raped her if nobody was around. A pervert in a girls school is a predator among a flock of sheep.

Lagos State Government bans flogging of students and apprentices.

DGI-PLUS:
THANKS to the recent legislation passed in Lagos State by the administration of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, the caning, beating or physical torture of school students, and of workplace apprentices, has been outlawed entirely, and declared both illegal and criminally culpable throughout that state. This recognition accorded the basic human rights of Lagos State’s children, by Governor Fashola, is, without question, one of the most constructive, progressive and profoundly humanitarian initiatives ever set forth into law by any Nigerian elected leader, since the nation’s 1960 independence.

A simple internet search yields an abundance of thoroughly documented medical evidence, which unambiguously links the “punitive” beating of human beings to very severe and permanently debilitating injuries that range from blindness-inducing eye damage, to life-long paralysis of the legs, possible from SINGLE blunt-force cane impacts to the sciatic nerve, which runs close to the spine in the lower back, just beneath the skin. A research paper recently published by the Department of Ophthalmology, at the College of Health Sciences in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, cited a four-year study which concluded that an astonishing 30.3% of all eye injuries, presented at that hospital alone, by children aged between 5 and 15 years old, were DIRECTLY attributed to caning or whipping attacks that went horribly wrong, either in schools or at home.

From a purely medical standpoint, there is NO safe area of the human body suitable for assault with a stick or other blunt-force weapon. Just as easily as a cane-strike to the lower back carries the potential to inflict lifetime lower limb paralysis on the victim, an errant stick, whip or belt-buckle impact to the wrist is equally liable to fracture, deform or displace the delicate wrist carpal bones that articulate within very tight tolerances, thus degrading forever the wrist’s flexibility and range of motion. Caning the hands of a student, such that permanent bone injury and loss of flexibility to the hands results, would effectively END whatever aspirations the victim may have held of becoming a surgeon later in life. The disastrous effects of losing one’s sight or mobility to a caning incident would be no less life-destroying, and require no elaboration.

The injurious psychological effects, of exposing children to physical brutality in the name of discipline, can last a lifetime, but do also manifest behaviorally in the short term, as illustrated by the extremely high prevalence of school-yard bullying of juniors by senior students, whose own corporal punishment and physical torture by school authority figures imparts a misconception of normalcy to the use of violence as a tool to gain “respect” and the illusion of compliance. In nearby Ghana, by way of comparison, where all forms of corporal punishment have been outlawed for decades, school-yard bullying is virtually non-existent, while a very high level of orderliness and discipline is maintained in Ghanaian secondary schools, without any recourse to violence by school authorities. Unsurprisingly, the Ghanaian education system remains one of the best in Africa today, producing highly proficient graduates who are in great demand globally.

Governor Fashola’s administration has boldly righted a festering injustice that has for decades been perpetrated against Nigerian children enrolled in schools nationwide, as well as in places of trade apprenticeship. Once again, Governor Fashola lives up to his billing as a leader far ahead of his time, now by endorsing the imperative to safeguard the BASIC human rights of Nigeria’s most important citizens – her children. For the betterment of Nigerian youth enrolled in schools and workplaces across the entire federation, the stellar, inspirational example just set by Governor Fashola is one well worthy of emulation, as it stands to swiftly transform Nigeria’s primary and secondary educational systems for the infinitely better.

Striking any adult person with a stick or other weapon constitutes a violent criminal offence statutorily classified as Felony Assault and Battery, for which jail sentences can be imposed after a fair trial, under Nigerian law. On the unassailable premise that schools exist to prepare students for life as productive, civilized and peaceful citizens of law-abiding societies, that fundamental prohibition of violence against adults must be extended to govern all conduct towards children within schools and workplaces throughout any nation that embraces human rights for human beings of every age demographic.

Most of these principal are very stupid. The other time my cousin that lives with me came back and told me that a teacher flogged her for not paying money for what I don't know. when I went there, it was the PTA Chairman that flogged my cousin. but when I wanted to take the matter up, they were all begging me. it happened in Ogudu Ojota.

Sue the government kor! Sue the government nii! When this news broke out, I said it that the parents of the girl omitted vital details about the happenings of this thing.

Imagine the flimsy excuse she gave when asked to carry out her duty when others who have the same head with her carried theirs out without complaining.

I'm in no way supporting the actions of the principal and teachers, but hey, if this girl had simply done what she was told to do, all this could have been avoided!.

As a teacher, I know these kids will give the flimsiest of excuse just to escape during what they're suppose to do. If the girl was really sick, why did she even come to school.

The Lagos state government should punish everybody involved. The head girl, the girl that was flogged and the teachers also. All must be punished and no one should be spared!.

everything should be done in moderation

when I was in secondary school, I got into trouble occasional. some I was flogged some manual labour was given as punishment

go to a school where punishment has being abolished and see how children misbehave

I would not send my ward to a school where they don't flog.

all I ask is for it to be done in moderation

That senior prefect is a witch!
The girl said she was ill and waiting for her turn to carry chairs as instructed and she slapped her!
I suspect she must be sleeping with one of the male teachers. I suspect Mr. Bello who asked Ogechi to remove her tights for him to flog her buttocks.

The girl that was flogged lacks proper home training. Everything she did shows that her parents failed to train her about the ways of proper conduct.

She was asked to do something, and she refused, giving excuses saying she was sick bla bla bla. Person wey sick dey come school.

If you ask me, her actions brought all this on her and herself alone.

Strategies for Improving School Climate

Set Clear Behavioral Standards, Policies and Procedures
Every school needs review their discipline polices and practices and clear standards of behavior that are known and supported by all members of the school. These standards also need to have clear consequences for those who are stepping outside the boundaries of acceptability, and these consequences need to be consistently applied as more and more schools are moving away from punitive discipline to restorative justice practices, and these are more effective and less costly financially.

Empower Students as Agents of Social Change
Schools should increasingly see their students as allies, and supports them to be social change agents to address school safety and climate. Every school will benefit from an organized team of students—the socially influential opinion leaders of its diverse groups and cliques—who are committed to notice hotspots and trained to cool them off. Students who have the observation skills to notice the exclusion, put-downs, teasing, relational aggression, bullying, harassment and other forms of mistreatment that usually go unnoticed by adults. Students trained in non-violent communication and intervention skills interact with their peers to prevent and stop bullying and harassment when and where it happens – on the bus, in the yard, at lunch, in the locker rooms and bathrooms, in the halls and on the fields.

Is that what people go to school to study the child was rude but a suspension would have been better. Why should the head teacher gang slap her what type of message is that. I'm sure it won't have got to this stage if vp had just stopped there and moved on. An when will the state start telling soldiers not to deal with civil matters.

There is a lot of ways you can discipline a child without slapping the child. I deal with kids I've never touched anyone but they all fear me.

Ten Golden Rules of Crisis Communication

Tell it fast and tell it truthfully If you don’t tell your own story, others will tell it for you

Concern, Control and Commitment In all communication, demonstrate the 3Cs: Concern for people and /or the environment impacted; Control of the situation; Commitment to finding out what happened and to do everything possible to ensure it can’t happen again.

Holding statementMust be released within 45 minutes to be effective

Do not speculate
Stick to verified facts rather than opinion.

Put yourself in the place of those impactedWhatever has happened, always put yourself in the place of the people who have been impacted. What would you want to happen? What would you want to know?

Be seen to take the right actions
…it’s about what you do, not just what you say.

Remember to communicate with all stakeholders …including BG employees

Use the right channels …Ensure the most suitable and effective internal and external channels are used to communicate with different audience segments….including social media

Being seen to help people affected is not an admission of liability provided the right words are used.

Anticipation, preparation and training ….are the keys to successful crisis management. Don’t forget to think strategically and to think ahead.
