Etoo's facial expressions cracked me up throughout the game. At one point the man behind him even laughed.

That kind of man (behind eto'o) shouldn't be trusted.

When Cameroon took the lead, he celebrated, same thing with Nigeria.

But it seems he became worse unlike his days in Germany

Defenders are suppose to become better as they age

The fact that he isn't playing regularly is contributing to his regression

Maybe the reason SE has been struggling is because you never had the blessing if the Darkelf.

Bit its just for the game against SA. Their members have been populating this cyberspace like the bubonic plague. Hopefully, a win for the SE should restore sanity to this thread and a permanent padlock on the mouth of every Zulu-ian grin grin grin

After the win, its back to pessimism

Afcon TITBITS

The three out of the four times Cameroun beat Nigeria were in the Afcon finals of 1984, 1988 and 2000.

Three times they hurt us when it really mattered. Even the other time they beat us was in a WCQ.

That is why our victory on saturday is more than sweet because we have also hurt them when it matters most. Just like in the 1962 Nkrumah Cup, 2004 Afcon, 2018 WCQs and now this at AFCON 2019. Twice we have rendered them ousted Defending champs.

Can't count Afcon 1992 because it was third place. Can't refer too to WCQs for 1970 because we didn't qualify even though we floored Cameroun.

Beating them when it truly truly matters. That is what I count here.

This is partly why it is the fiercest rivalry and biggest derby in African soccer.

Against South Africa, The Super Eagles must soar even higher. And I trust they will.

The kind of emotional torture we received from Cameroon particularly the period from 1984 to 1989, was too much.
The dominance was too much. Not as if they usually played better than us but some how they always found a way around us.
In 1984, even though we lost to them 3-1 we were the better side. In 1988 Henry Nwosu scored an excellent goal but was wrongly ruled off-side by the ref, who years later apologized for the wrong decision taken.

Leading to Italia 90 WC we beat them 2:0 in Ibadan, but for the 2:1 defeat we suffered in away Libreville, Gabon we could have qualified before the Cameroon return fixture. We needed a draw in Yaoundé. It was 0:0 at half time and we all turned prayer warriors only for Nigeria to concede with less than 20mins to full time.
See how we were also rubbed in Lagos when Ikpeba stupidly disallowed his goal that he scored and we went ahead and lost the penalty shoot-out.
Cameroon has never been better than Nigeria, just that things always work against us each time we played them. They became like a God to us.

Okocha said something after we beat them in the quarter finals of the 2004 AFCON: "Thank God our generation has finally been able to beat Cameroon for the generations to come". And ever since then onward we have never lost to Cameroon.

That is good news for me. I do not think Tanzania is the right place for Amunike's tactical know how. I feel he should keep fighting for jobs in the lower levels of Nigerian football and climb his way up the ladder.

Tanzania's loss, not Amunike's.

Finito.

People can blame Ikpeba and Kanu all they like but Ike shorunmu was poor in that match. Those two goals could have been averted and let's not forget the fact that he couldn't catch a single penalty

Ighalo can learn a thing or two from this Malian number 9. They play similarly however he plays so well with the team and passes with ease to his teammates. That is all I would need from Ighalo.
NB: He is already doing the scoring so this would be a welcome addition.

Yea, but i am actually talking about players development and not about which league is the best.

Players develop but they have to be exceptionally good to get into the first team of these top clubs in the EPL.

Consider that Ademola, Nelson (Arsenal) Sancho and a few others. Couldn't get game time in the EPL and essentially tore up the Bundesliga and two of them were U18.

Players develop but they don't get opportunities and some can even get lost in the lost in the system.

I had this discussion with two Nigerian origin players of which one has now gone to Lazio and the other is looking at options for a loan move.

Considering also Osimhen he couldn't do anything after two seasons in the Bundesliga. Goes to the Belguim league and tears it open.

Now the debate or the question is can he replicate that new found form in a better more competitive league.

The question is it a mix between development and or opportunity. Or you could say that the other leagues are not as competitive and easier for players to make it.
