As for me, I wasn’t surprised 1 but by this result. We’re ranked and we’re expected to defeat Egypt… Let’s not overrate our team until we defeat a superior team (on ranking) I.e Senegal, Algeria, marocco

Yup. Aina was definitely my MoM. I don’t remember him getting beaten one on one by any Egyptian player today and his forward forays were a joy to behold. Omeruo was a rock in the defense as well. Let’s hope and pray that the knock he received is minor.

O pari

TheSuperNerd:
You know.... I was just about to analyse on Ola Aina and I realised he would be 4th in my list of top performers. It is crazy coz he is actually the highest rated player on Sofascore. Aina dropped a Masterclass showing today. No caps.

Like i said, all the players had Solid showings. Even Omeruo and Ekong were absolutely solid and their ball playing from the back was beautiful to behold.

Ejuke should be apologizing

True

Iwobi was free for that last attack. Dunno why many were even saying the defenders closed him down. He was behind them.

they were just making trying to defend his mistake

A squared pass would have resulted to atleast a goal from the 2 wasted opportunities he had

Ejuke made not a single dribbling attempt, meaning he didn't attempt to dribble anybody, yet his impact was felt.

I am highlighting all these because i want the best for the national team.

9 years apart
with nacho right behind him again like that year. Na the assist and goal remain. Nacho assisting, Awoniyi scoring. Coincidentally, it was the unavailability of the main striker that brought the emergence of Awoniyi on both occasions.

With all accolades and praises, i think the biggest decision in our favor to this win Should go to both Ekong and Maduka.

If he didn't close Salah down, and that ball went in, our Hossanas will all be "Crucify Him" actually. grin

Those who feel Simon Moses deserved the MOM perhaps need to take a,second look at the game. Yes , Simon was lively and looked threatening but his end product has continue to undermine his quality. I still think Moses has given his best because he has been with this team for the longest and continued to do the same jab-jab no punch.

Chukwueze was the poorest on the team.

Out of Moses Simon's 10 crosses, only 2 were successful.
He lost the ball 19 times
Had no shot on target.
Missed a big chance.
Made no single key pass.

And yet Moses Simon is the MOTM for some people.
Well, there is no problem if he is your man of the match.

This is not an effort to bring down Moses Simon.
The best is what we hanker for the team.

Iwobi was behind Ejuke too.

Only very few players have the awareness to look behind them during a goal-scoring opportunity.

Aside Iheanacho who scored the goal.
In all sincerity, from this clip who is the the Nigerian forward with the most bite in the attacks?

Joe Aribo vs Egypt Today: The Man, The Myth, The Number 10. Badass Performance. A Beast close to the box and a workrate monster.

1 assist.
1 big chance created.
2 chances created.
43 touches.
75% passing accuracy.
2 tackles.
1 clearance.
Was fouled once.
100% ground duels won (4/4).
100% dribbling success (1/1).
1 shot blocked.
4 recoveries.
Zero fouls conceeded.

Lad covered grounds keeping up with both offensive and defensive phases of the game.

When in defensive transitions, Aribo fell deeper and helped with the high intensity press.

When in offensive transitions, he covered ground intelligently to gallop up the pitch to contribute to an attack overload in the final third and in the Egyptian box.

What a lad. A real technical gem and workhorse in terms of covering grounds to be involved in both phases of plays (defensive and offensive).

Like I have already analysed, Aribo would be a true revelation at this Afcon as long as we see him get as often as he can close to opposition boxes and be involved in our attacking transitions. We saw that today. Expect more. wink

The boy was truly breathtaking. That performance just shutdown any debate about his position in the team.

I think Moses should be praised cos crossing the ball with your weaker foot is not an easy task.

The Egyptian were not giving him the chance to cut to his right foot. Same with Chukweze.

Therefore, they had to run to the line to cross. Chukweze can't even use his right foot at all, the reason he was found wanting in the game!

I think going forward Moses and Chukweze should change wing!

Ejuke is a very very stupid boy.

When I called him a carpenter some peeps came for me! Can you see now! How can you be a winger and not look up when running with the ball?

All he does is running and over running the ball like an amateur? No wonder Ajax didn't sign him despite his exploits in the Dutch league.

A very good winger (very traditional, exciting, and operates on the touch line) but if only his final ball was good, then he would be truly world class. Hopefully he gets to that level.

The Super Eagles have never played this kinda way before. The pressing was mad and they came out flying out from the blocks. The usual Nigerian team start slowly and build up tempo from the 30th minute.
The only passanger in yesterday's game to an extent was Chukwueze. Maybe he wasn't 100% fit yet, that's why his mother was seriously praying for him. No wonder Eguavoen wanted Amoo to replace Ighalo

Moses Simon lost the ball 19 times yesterday? I would like to know who compiled those stats. Do you know what loosing the ball 19 times mean? A ten year old kid will struggle real hard to loose the ball that number of times in a game against Real Madrid.
This false representation of stats speaks volume of your real motive.

AFCON 2021: Fans Slam Salah After Poor Display Against Super Eagles

football fans came hard on Mohamed Salah following his no show for Egypt in their 1-0 loss to the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Tuesday’s AFCON 2021 Group D opener, Daily Star reports.

Salah had a performance to forget for Egypt as he managed just one clear chance all through the game.

1xBit
The Liverpool forward, who has fired home 23 goals across 26 games in all competitions for his club this season, was disappointing in his 73rd international appearance.

Salah started alongside the likes of Mohamed Elneny, Ahmed Hegazi and Trezeguet in their tournament opener, but The Pharaohs were outclassed throughout.

Zabira.NG
Winning 1-0 thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho’s fine first-half strike, part of Nigeria’s success was managing to keep the Champions League and Premier League winning forward quiet.

And reacting to the disappointing display, one fan wrote: “Salah in ghost mode.”

With a second saying: “Mohamed Salah’s only had 14 touches in the first half – the fewest of any Egypt player to play the whole 45 mins against Nigeria in this #AFCON2021 match…”

A third continued: “Has Salah touched the ball? they’ve marked him dangerously.”

With a fourth adding: “Egypt are rubbish, won’t be complaining when Salah comes back early.”

And a fifth concluding: “Mo Salah is nowhere to be found.”

The FIFA Best Player of the Year nominee will hope to put the disappointing performance behind him ahead of Egypt’s next group game against Guinea-Bissau on Saturday.

Count all the wayward shots and crosses, combined with the few times his dribbles were unsuccessful.

Yes, it was 19.

Loosing the ball means getting dispossessed. In other words, you claimed he was dispossessed by the Egyptians 19times. At that rate, it means he lost the ball practically everytime he touched it. You went ahead to count shots and crosses as getting dispossessed.
For real, you should have a word with yourself bro.
