I was so touched by the uproar on all social media platforms by Nigerians, it beckons on me then, that Nigeria would be great if we can set aside ethnic bigotry and tribalism that fosters on us incompetent, power drunk old fools parading themselves as a leader.

Sorry for digressing.
bros some useless Nigerians were online also supporting the Libyans oo, infact it was Nigerians on foreign football pages that were standing with super eagles..you see the ones on instagram (Tundeedunt page, yabaleftonline, Gistlover, instablog, naijasport etc) were all saying nonsense “that we started it first and we deserve it”

Sugarboyy:

If some of you understand how international relations work, you won't be posting such.
Those in the knowledge of international relations rates this same Tuggar very highly and most times international relations doesn't work based on emotions.
Did you read where the Ministry of foreign affairs said that Libya doesn't have an ambassador in Nigeria and because of that, the foreign affairs ministry has not only been in touch with the Libyan Government but has also summoned the head of the Libyan ministry in Nigeria?
You expected Tuggar to immediately call for the arrest of all Libyans in Nigeria just to show you that the ministry is working?
Do you know that there are x100 of Nigerians in Libya, compared to Libyans in Nigeria?
So the foreign ministry and the federal government shouldn't care of what the outcomes of Nigerians in Libya would become and take a decision that would ends up endangering the lives of countless Nigerians in Libya?
With a rough estimate, I can boldly tell you that there are more than 500k Nigerians in Libya and majority of them have settled in there, can same number be said of Libyans in Nigeria?
1. I don't know who you know that rates Tuggar highly but my angst is based on his past comments on the Gaza issue and the common link to Arabs, northerners have i.e religion.

2. The rest of what you assumed I was saying i.e arrests, remains your assumption and nothing remotely close to "their business interests in Nigeria/West Africa"

3. Too bold of you to assume "some of us" don't understand international relations grin

Ekong wasn't injured
He just recovered from injury and even played in his charity match
I remember now, you're right...but reading more about that situation now, Ekong actually requested to be excused from the games as he was just recovering from injury and only played the charity match in an off-season capacity to boost his fitness as well as raise funds for his cause. Once again Finidi didn't drop Ekong without his approval.

The Libyans took it too far. As Goke7 said, they could have been petty in more subtle ways.

They ought to pay for their sins alongside the accumulated shenanigans their brother N.African countries have meted out to the continent.

Just as it is written in the constitution: Everyday for the thief, one day for the owner.
minfelix:

omo with these 20 points, those guys really pass through hell oo, and it shows the libyan are just 21st century mumu with their own sabotaging claims..their claims that we treated them bad no even gel at all…if CAF want to land 🔨hammer walai the Libyan FA supposed collect heavy sanction

I just saw the circular the Foreign Ministry put out and I remembered Tuggar is the minister. We can expect nothing to be proud about from him and that ministry

While the libyan incident is shameful and pathetic, there’s no reason to have the foreign ministry involved in this matter. It simply hasn’t got that far.

Foreign relations is very serious business.

Ekong said he was ready but finidi want to show power
Hotepking:

Not a fan of Finidi's coaching tenure in the least, but this is harsh cause Ekong was injured during those crucial games against SA and Benin republic...infact we missed several of our key players like Moses Simon, Osimhen, Aina, and Ekong

Hon. Maitama Tuggar. He is the one I referred to from earlier this morning. He sounds passive but let us take it as his way of staying diplomatic while we await the next steps to be taken by CAF and the necessary authorities with respect to whatever else.

I had totally forgotten. I keenly followed his ministry's handling of the Nigér matter last year and I since lowered my expectations when it pertains to matters which may fall across the "stumbling block" of northerners/elites

Nigerians were denied access to movement in foreign soil, plane diverted and held hostage without food for more than 12 hours. What else needed to happen before the Foreign ministry of the federal republic of Nigeria step in? Before someone is injured or dead?

We have the NFF. That’s why they need to be up and doing. If government attention is needed then the sports ministry can assist.

So the pictures flying around of the Libya team 'stranded' were as expected lies. Nothing pained me more today than seeing Nigerians go on the side of the Libyans.

Some Players to keep eyes on

1. Arierhi Kparobo (Beyond Limits): This lad has been my favorite local number 9 talent in Nigeria for over a year now. Fast, strong, two footed, lethal finisher. He's a sharpshooter. I could go on and on but just know that this one has my seal of approval talentwise. If all goes well, he could become the next Osimhen.

2. Raphael Oyebanjo (Shuffle): Do you remember the fantastic midfield 4 of Ebube Okere, Ozor Okeke (now at Elfsborg), Basil Mbata and Raphael Oyebanjo?? Yes... this is one of them. Raphael Oyebanjo himself. I did a talent dossier on him back in 2022 or 23. I will find it and quote it again. He is a midfield trojan. My dossier will say the rest.

3. Charles Agada (Mavlon headed to QPR): This kid is powerful, lethal and a beast forward. We saw him at the U17 Afcon under Ugbade. A game changer on his day and knows his way to Goal.

4. Israel Ayuma (Mavlon now at NK Istra): This central midfield pearl is a delight. Tall, strong, technical. He has the talent to become better if he keeps at it.

This is the brief on Raphael Oyebanjo from 2 years ago on this thread.

TheSuperNerd:
Naija Talents Watch: Raphael Oyebanjo, 15-16yrs, Nigeria U17

The Ironman of the 3 man midfield of the Nigerian U17 side. His Physicality is top notch and his ability to track opponents in-game, show high level of concentration across the 90 and win duels across the length and breadth of the pitch is already well noted by some scouts in Ghana for the Wafu B U17 Afcon Qualifiers Tournament.

Today, at 4pm Naija time, he is expected to lime up in midfield from the start alongside his Midfield Lietuenants in the Mercurial Ozor Okeke and the Enforcer, Ebube Okere.

Oyebanjo's ball winning abilities and workrate is expected to help give the team steel and the edge in the midfield battles vs CIV today.

A product of the Shuffle Select Academy, Lagos, Nigeria. The midfield pearl is another young lad to keep an eye on for the future.

yes because the sports ministry in Nigeria is well capable of rescuing Nigerians held against their will at a remote place in Libya than the foreign ministry.

Sadly the team won't have Daniel Daga because his passport is currently with the Norwegian embassy in readiness for his work permit to be granted for his pro life to begin in Europe once he clocks 18 in January 2025. He joins Molde officially January 2025.

You’re making it sound like they were kidnapped.

Anyways my point is, this is football mischief on steroids but it shouldn’t be escalated to become a sort of diplomatic row. Summoning the consulate and involving foreign affairs, isn’t good for optics, if that is something African countries even care about btw. Case closed.
