With the sudden withdrawal of Chad from the AFCON 2017 qualifiers, it put Nigeria's qualification hopes in disarray since the Super Eagles would not have the necessary number of points to be able to qualify as one of the overall 2nd best placed teams in all the groups (since Egypt is set to qualify as the group winner). Given the high TV ratings Nigeria's super eagles attract, CAF is considering giving Nigeria's FA an opportunity to officially file an appeal. Internal sources within CAF say that the NFA are expected to have a high chance of succeeding with the appeal because CAF has strong interests in the financial success of the competition which is always bolstered by the present of football giants like Nigeria. This could mean that the Eagles may get a chance to qualify for AFCON 2017 after all. CAF is due to make their final decision about this on April fool's day of 2016.
