u are biased and irresponsible with scares of truth in ur heart. The president has the final say or decision in all issues concerned any withdrawal from ECA. Apc messenger!

So, why did she not say that it was GEJ first, and said it was the Federal Commissioners that backed her?

Why did she do it without alerting the National House of Assembly?

Remember, she was the Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

OBJ saved even with pressure from governors because there was the political will.

There was no political will in GEJ regime. This is coming from a person who served as the finance minister for both parties.
OBJ had the strength of being a two term president. Also, his political power had been increased by his supposed conquest of the western region. Goodluck on the other hand, was a VP turned President: Read the history of Lyndon.B .Johnson, Gerald Ford and also George Bush.Snr. President Jonathan did not have the political might of OBJ, and also time will tell if GEJ was the smarter one. Machiavelli died in poverty, but the legacy of his ideology is still being studied today, because he had an idea. Goodluck had an idea, and so, posterity will show if he was indeed clueless or not

How could we save when GEJ was dashing out yams to all and sundry?

Oil bunkering m illitants were being awarded multi billion Naira contracts left and right.

Mass looting was going on around him but he chose to defend the actions.

A f00l that sees Politicians and political affiliates buying private jets as a sign of a prosperous economy.

Do people think PEJ didn't know what she was saying when she said "The money we are sharing will go around" or some daft statement like that.

The Governor's saw all that and demanded their share of the loot or else, no one would have the guts to approach GEJ for money the way they did.

You can hold them accountable for overplaying their hand, and for failing to understand that economic development without mastery of politics is a recipe for disaster. The Goodluck administration tried and did deliever, but failed to play politics the right way
Let me rephrase in case my question didn't get across properly: what aspects of the faults in the economy can we blame them for??

U see many Governors went to court and defeated the federal govt and jeg as respecter of the Nation's law succomb to the Nation's constitution unlike current president, who is no respecter of any law in this country.

Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is just one shameless woman that should STFU. She was the most powerful minister under GEJ and here she is talking about political will. Political will on whose part? OBJ was a domineering president and she was able to save under her, so, what's so difficult in saving under a GEJ that gave her absolute power to run the economy and finances of the country without interference?

She should just admit her incompetence and stop looking for whom to blame for her failures. The achievements that were recorded during her first outing was as a result of the brilliant economic team put together by OBJ. Under GEJ, there was no brilliant team to work with and her incompetence was displayed publicly despite the unlimited power that she wielded.
Do you have any evidence to proof the bolded?

There is no admission of guilt in her statement. She merely stated what she has always said: That the governors and some members of political parties frustrated the efforts of her and the executive to save for the future. The only thing she did was to leave that part out. It is inconsequential to mention the names of Fashola and Amaechi in a lecture at an American College

And I ask, where is the 50% or 52% of the FG?

The facts remain:
Governors Fashola and Amaechi went to court demanding our savings be shared, today they're both ministers.
NOI said that in the unadulterated version of her speech. I read her full speech.
When you save, you should save your own money, not the money of your neighbours. But that notwithstanding, 36 governors (not Amaechi/Fashola) demanded for their own share of the savings because GEJ kept on dipping his hands illegally into the collective pot. After all, were there no governors during OBJ's time?... Were there no governors under Yaradua?... in fact it was the same set of governors that served under GEJ and Yaradua.

But even with governors pulling out their share, the FG still owned 52% of the funds. So kindly tell us what happened to this 52%?

This is not what NOI blamed. There was no political will. OBJ faced similar pressure. With a strong political will, you can do a lot of things as president to save.

dnt u knw that while okonjo iweala was clamouring for saving, d governors then went to court to get an injuction to share the money? do u expect jonathan to go against to court order and still talk democracy like buhari?

When the present government blame the past administration, many here would spew trash. I have said it a thousand times the immediate past government is the worst in the history of this country, even Abacha is a saint where GEJ and his cronies are concerned. I hear some blaming Amaechi and the Governors forum for going to court and asking for the ECA to be shared, please and please GEJ was the President for Christ sake, the buck stops at his table. I lost hope on the man (GEJ) the day he gave his acceptance speech when he was made acting President, the dude was shaking... I mean really shaking oh...ah I told my wife that day that a weakling has been installed as the President. If you would rule this country, you've gotta be strong headed and thick skinned if not the country would rule you as we witnessed during GEJ's tenure.

And 23 PDP governors were mumus who couldn't think for themselves?

Were akpabio, imoke, uduaghan, Dickson, orji such spineless boys that amaechi and fashola were too big for them to handle?

NOI mentioned lack of political will as the problem, how does it translate to amaechi/fashola?

Who has mentioned parties?

NOI has given her assessment of what happened and you are trying to rope in governors. One of the reasons, given by the governors was that the fg was making illegal withdrawals.

Her statement said..

the persons behind these allegations acted as if the constitutionally recognized FAAC

This has nothing to do with GEJ. She lied with their name.
They replied.

The committee, in a statement issued on its behalf by
Forum of Finance Commissioners in Abuja, stated that
the law setting it up did not give it the power to approve
withdrawals from the ECA.

So, there was a clear lie and not that GEJ said and Finance Commissioners said.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala broke the trust and the will.

She has the power to ensure savings were made for the raining days but she did not. Even if the governors demanded that every penny in the federation account be shared, she could still have saved federal governments share of the allocation for the period she served as finance minister.

I don't know why people are bringing names of governors to this issue. Obasanjo, Yaradua, or Jonathan these are the names that should be on everybody's lips for now. Unless we are trying to divert the issue.
