So, this is my first post on this thread. I use a Mercedes C-class 240, bought it December last year, (from Cotonou) its very clean, but i started noticing a particular issue early this year, the ac outlet on the passenger side brings out just little air when am using the AC, byr now it doesn't emmit air at all, gave it to an AC mechanic but he couldn't fix it, needless to say that getting a good Mercedes mech is hard. So house why do you think the issue is with the car, i need your advice please especially those using Mercedes coz i don't wanna take it to quack mech again. Thanks

Ohk...to be frank the state's that have the best mechanics and do good repairs are Jos, kaduna and Kano.I own a 240 since 2014.

I can tell you it's a fantastic car,with a 12plug and 6cylinder capacity.it's problems are those of A.C and air flow meter.

The follow come AC compressor I think is a factory error on 240.I had to change mine,after spending over a 100k on mechanics that no nothing about the car Ac system.

That compressor is the problem and a good substitute is that of a Peugeot.That is what am currently using.And after fixing it 2 years back,no issues as regards AC ever came up.

If in Lagos you have an Ac specialist,just visit him.You may spend well o! But it's worth it,than taking it to one road side kazim or wasiu.

But if by chance you do come to kaduna,hola me.I stay and work in Abuja but born in kaduna so I can recommend copious no of Benz mechanics for you.with your 30-40k that Ac issue will be a thing of the past.

Alternatively,you could visit a Benz show room too.The repairs are expensive but guaranteed.

Wow, this is educating, amazingly am in abuja right now but did not come with the car. But do you think changing the compressor to that of Peugeot is the best bait?

Well I wanted a permanent solution,so I had to just get rid of the follow come compressor.however,if you have a good AC specialist that can work on the compressor,good and fine,coz that follow come is the best,yet problematic.
I had repaired mine alot and it kept on spoiling,so I was advised to just do away with it.since then,no issues.

It means the car has 6 cylinders.Each cylinder has two plugs in it.so if you times it by 6 you have 12 plugs.

Only a C 240 I have seen that has such capacity.the other C class are just 6 plugs,with 6 cylinders.

My c240 02 model is having AC issue, AC mech told me to use Peugeot ac but I'm sceptical about it.

Yea..Peugeot compressor is what I use as well,and it's very ok,since 2014 .but have it installed by an AC specialist,not road side pseudo AC guys.

I am interested in this topic cos I am currently working on c240 in abuja, which from my diagnosis has narrowed down to compressor failure and system blokage withing the discharge line, which I found out during my diagnostics. which technically speaking has said exactly why that compressor failure occur in C240 and some other automotive HVAC systems.

Improper diagnostic of auto HVAC general system and overhauling before installing another compressor will be like throwing another goat into the mouth of a hungry lion.

there are factors that determines if the france make compressor can work with the German auto star benz compressor sitting on the engine, the capacity of the compressor and electrical construction features like the coil be it inbuilt or the other way round.

n you need to be specific about the france car compressor cos there are lots of them.

based on your description of hvac symptoms,
chances are, your c240 car might likely not be having a serious issues as to compressor changing, and all that, but need a system servicing which will cost you around 15 to 18k to get it back running up to the required threshold.

I run a hvac system fix shop in Abuja and for the other saying you don't have a good mechanics in abuja in regards to Mercedes and other car brand that can't be true,
for mechanic there might be but for ac I can't speak for other but my self, there is an one thing you have to bear in mind is the fact that you have not discovered a proficient mechanic in abuja don't mean they don't have.

if its in your car is abuja bring it over to my garage let me have it properly diagnosed and give you solution.

I was asked to change the follow come compressor to that of ML.. i have changed like 3 times now and they keep developing faults. lol... I know its late but I'm just seeing this..... He us very correct... Mercedes builds their engines different.... Some V6 have 12 plugs, V8s with 16 plugs... Its even more common in their newer engines... Google can do you a lot of good.

shamsuRana, has said it all. Peugeot compressor has been saving MB Class users.

Take the advice of shamsuRana.

Replace it with Peugeot compressor.
