Mathematics is all around us, and it has shaped our understanding of the world in countless ways.

In 2013, mathematician and science author Ian Stewart published a book on 17 Equations That Changed The World. We recently came across this convenient table on Dr. Paul Coxon's twitter account by mathematics tutor and blogger Larry Phillips that summarizes the equations. (Our explanation of each is below):

While Einsteins relativity E=mc² explained most of the mechanisms of our macro world it falls short in the quantum world or even a blackhole.

I also wonder why Newton's second law of motion is not there, it explains a lot to us about motion we experience everyday F=ma

anyway hopeful string theory will deduct an equation that unifies everything!!!

See the years listed. Back then people could sit down and think. Today's generation waste away on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, NL, several random blogs or even on their personal cellphones taking selfies.

The same amount of time some chose to waste on social media is probably same as what these legends needed to think of something new to help others for centuries to come.

The news back then would be the big things these great people came up with. Today, the news are s'tupid topics like what davido/wiz kid/ini edo/linda etc wore to church last Sunday, the color of their gate, name brand of their purse, who flew on a private jet vs who walked to the same event, who can shake their bum bum faster than the other, who killed a snake, a rabbit etc. Who cares?

These listed great people obviously paved the way for others to even know how to count whatever change these over-rated people think they're worth today.

That actually got me thinking as well. And not only the Newton second law. Thinking heat diffusion equation shouldn't be excluded but there is a reason for the omission.

I STUDIED(AND STILL HOPING TO CONTINUE STUDYING) MATHEMATICS.

Economics was a sweet course until they introduced mathematics into it. Maths have a way of complicating things.

Oh, there is an equation for "Chaos Theory"?
And what of F=ma, V=IR and n°=a + (n-1)d.

I love maths as in the joy I get when I finally know how to solve a problem ehn but I never seem to have full knowledge about it...

Mathematics is actually very interesting. However the real mathematics of some of these equations were never learnt.
Love maths so dearly but never understood things like the Schrödinger's Wave Equation.
