Good News to all game lovers!! There is a New playstation coming your way soon. An upgrade to the alreay exising playstation 4. According to the Wall Street Journal, Sony will announce the PlayStation 4.5 model before PlayStation VR launches in October. It came with great additions on the GPU and it is nicknamed the "NEO" .




GiantBomb via IGN claim that the new PS4.5 which is codenamed NEO will come with a higher clock speed, GPU, and memory bandwidth. It would also support 4k image output. However, when compared to the PS4, the changes aren’t so huge. For example, NEO will still have the same 8 Jaguar Cores, just clocked higher at 2.1 GHz than the original PS4’s 1.6 GHz. RAM will still be at 8 GB DDR5, but with faster 218 GB/s data rates.



The only major improvement is with the GPU which doubles from 18 to 36 and is also clocked higher at 911 MHz versus the 800 MHz of the PS4, but no VR support.

It actually makes sense.... PS 4.5 have been a rumour since last month. its even the one stopping me from getting a console till now.

I saw the news from IGN on YouTube. You can also google PS4.5 and you will see the news about it.

A lot of gamers have always wanted to game at 4k resolution and not 1080p or 720p. The ps4.5 is an attempt to achieve this and it will also have a huge impact on virtual reality gaming. The higher the resolution the more realistic vr would be.

I'm pretty sure it's not an Apple-esque ploy to rip people off. Some developers find it almost impossible to upscale to 1080p and lock down 60fps on the current console. The new PS4 model will have a stronger GPU, making it possible to attain higher visual fidelity. Besides, the PS VR will be released soon, and the current console is not strong enough to render the VR experience at a steady framerate.

I think the move will be better suited for VR than 4K gaming resolutions, they can barely support 30FPS at 1080P at the moment..at present one would need the equivalent of a GPU around the £300/$400 + mark to run 4K gaming at a locked 30FPS on medium-ish graphic settings and then there's heat dissipation to worry about and the required VRAM for 4K ..8.3million pixels...that's a tall order.
