A Nigerian drug lord who is serving 27 years behind bars has flouted prison rules by flaunting his £3,000 gold Rolex watch and luxury designer shirts that he wears in prison. Babs Arogundade, 29, made mockery of the ban on bling by wearing a Datejust Rolex, a golden medallion and a silk shirt by designer Versace.

He took the pictures from an illicit camera phone and a friend posted them on Instagram with the caption 'free BP' - an allusion to the gangster's nickname.

According to sources 'The pictures show how much respect he has for the prison system - none. He's laughing at the authorities.' The source also speculated that Arogundade was running the prison and that he was living the high life behind bars.

A Prison Service spokesman said: 'We are investigating these images. Any prisoner found to have breached our rules will be punished and may be referred to the police for further investigation.'
Before he was jailed the drug baron owned a Bentley, lived a life of luxury and regularly splashed out thousands of pounds on champagne and expensive jewellery including diamond-encrusted Rolex watches.

Arogundade, of St John's Wood, North London, was convicted last year of conspiracy to supply drugs and possession of firearms. He was caught when police found an arsenal of guns he had stashed in a woman's car including four shotguns, a loaded Smith and Wesson handgun and a Winchester rifle when they raided the vehicle during a surveillance operation focusing on Arogundade's criminal lifestyle.

Also in the car they found a package containing a kilo of 74 per cent pure cocaine, which is said to have a street value of £200,000.

Weighing scales, plastic bags containing 1.22kg of crack cocaine and cutting agent were later found at an associate of Arogundade's address in Wembley.

Arogundade?? Doesn't sound Igbo to me.... Perhaps this shows that the Igbos do not have a monopoly over crime abroad as others here have suggested.

You must be a joker and a narrow minded pleb, if we go by your calculations!

IGBOs make up what percentage of Nigeria's population?
IGBOs account for what percentage of Nigerians in prisons abroad?
IGBOs account for what percentage of Nigerians who have faced death sentences abroad?

If you are looking for a small gratification that IGBOs don't have a monopoly on crimes abroad you will be quickly hosed down as a prat. IGBO people have defined crimes abroad, they are the epitome, the connoisseurs of it and the biggest destroyers of the Nigerian passport and reputation.

Your assertion can only come about because you are either not well traveled and you lack statistics and indices!

Nigerians have been killed and attacked in many parts of the world simply because they carry the same passports as IGBO people.
I have personally asked for names from foreign police in relation to drugs, 419 and other crimes that were used to declare Nigerians nonentities and 90% of those names have been IGBO names.

Whether it is the notice board at Asian regional offices or the Brazilian police wanted list of even as remote as Gambia, IGBO people have left (and are still leaving) disastrous reputation and criminal legacy for future Nigerian travelers to face SO PLEASE If you do not know what you are talking about just SHUT UP!

Please provide evidence before making such assertions. I guarantee you that where I live, most Nigerians that are in prison come from a tribe that is not Igbo. What you fail to realise is that the percentage of criminals from a certain tribe in a foreign country is relative to that tribes total population there. For example, there are more Igbos than any other Nigerian tribe in Malaysia so of course there will be more Igbo criminals there. Where I live, there aren't as many Igbos as a certain other Nigerian tribe and that's why that tribe seems to be the most prominent in the criminal underworld here. It's simple maths wink.

You won't be the first silly person to ask me dumb questions about IGBOs in the face of overwhelming evidence and statistics.

Well,
I have spoken to the head of NAFDAC
I have spoken to NDLEA
I have spoken to Interpol
I have visited over 50 Cities around the world and conversed extensively with local police forces in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe, South America.

By and large the largest cases of non-Igbo criminality among Nigerians has been immigration offences, prostitution, credit card and scams.

The number one killer of Nigeria's reputation from my discussions center on drug barons, DRUG trafficking, converting locals into drug mules, exporting dangerous / contraband goods, prison congestion due to constant flow of IGBO criminals, trafficking in human organs and international syndicates - IGBOs always feature here.

Why don't you get off your backside and do your own research, it is not for me to provide you stats, it took me several years to arrive at the conclusion that Nigerians were sleeping while IGBOs are busy destroying the country abroad - Infact it was an Interpol official and an Asian policeman who told me nearly a decade ago while all the time I was busy saying "Nigerian criminals", just like many dumb Nigerians are still doing today.

I am almost 100% certain that you're speaking absolute hogwash, mostly because I have actually done my research into the Nigerian criminal underworld that mostly covers fraud, drug and human trafficking and a large percentage of the names that come up are non-Igbos, with many coming from a particular tribe that, again, isn't Igbo. You're the one who needs to come up with the evidence as you're the one who's making outlandish claims. Until you do, I will just dismiss you as a tribalist who has an agenda against Igbo people. Goodbye.
