Somebody stole more than the monthly allocation of some states and was just given 2years imprisonment. Really, corruption settles corruption - parties concerned are happy! The Nigerian judiciary is stinking now than ever! I pray EFCC appeals this judgement.

2 years too small now, he should start from something like 23 years so that others can learn from his case.

Two years? What a ridiculous verdict! I see the guy either contesting or sponsoring an ally in 2019 election.

At least to an extent, politicians can be leery of the law in the future... but why two years only on 77 count charge?

I'm afraid rather than be a corrective measure, this will encourage looters to steal more. Meanwhile my people carry out jungle justice on someone that steals just ordinary phone. I laugh for my country in Spanish.

Read carefull... was convicted on 77
counts and sentenced to two years on
each count 2*77 give u 154year... make u take ur time read

that is good but not good enough.
if he was convicted on 77 counts, he should be jailed at least 1 count/month.

if a poor man steals a phone he would be jailed 10 years and no concurrent running of jail time.
SMH for lawyers.

But NTA said 154 years.
Till rapture

Which one do I believe now? Let it be 154 abeg.

1.He was charged on 77 counts of fraud and found guilty on all counts.

2.Being found guilty on each of the counts means a two year sentence per count ...thus 77 X 2 = 154 years.

3.However, each sentence would run concurrently (at the same time)....hence he spends two years in jail.

Confusing....yet simple at the same time.

It is the Law. If you want it changed...that is where you write or phone your legislator to sponsor a bill that would get the law changed.

I guess you didn't see the part where they said the the jail terms will run concurrently. Make you take your time not to just read, but UNDERSTAND.

I don't understand, 2 years for N1.4b?

It means N58m for every month, and N1.9m for a day.

Stupid judgement by a silly judge.

I did not dispute NTA.

Look at my number 3....each of the two years he was sentenced per count will run concurrently....ie at the same time....so he spends 154 years at once...in two years.

(Sometimes legal people like making simple stuff too complicated).

Two years each for 77 count charges to run concurrently. Meaning that he is serving the 77 count at the same time

They should take him to kuje prison. This is just a tip of the iceberg of Dasukigate. just a test run. others will be jailed too.

dis is a useless verdict by a useless judge. so, just 2yrs in prison for 77 counts charge, a crime of 1.4bn naira, and d man that stole 300k last time was given 7yrs, ooh my God. That judge should be killed.

His cumulative sentence is 154 years (2yr sentence on each count).
But as the judge ruled that the convict would spend the prison terms 'concurrently', the former lawmaker will only spend 2 years in prison.

Don't misunderstand this, it is not just 2years, it's "2x77=154" two years for each of the seventy-seven offences he was convicted for, mehn...! he'll be gone for a very long time
