If the government did not monitor the price I'm sure the marker can sell up to 500 per litre
Re: Marketers Sell Fuel Above N145 — The PUNCH by joseph1832(m): 12:42pm On May 14, 2016
The FG could not monitor marketers when fuel sold for N86.50K, is it now they want to moniker marketers when it sells for N145?

So you can see how wicked some Nigerians (Marketers/Depot operators) are then they will blame Buhari and APC.

why won't they make profit? U buy at 145 and sale at 150 considering d expenses, its a fair deal.
Re: Marketers Sell Fuel Above N145 — The PUNCH by folabi4u2: 12:59pm On May 14, 2016
Buhari and APC are playing scripts, not until you and I stand up to fight for our rights - we would still complain and murmur when next they peg the exchange rate to 290.

We have to let them stop all these Beautiful Lies - the masses are greatly suffering the hardship yet they use one stupid vocabulary to calm us down.

There are other ways to alleviate the suffering of the masses like: ( Increasing minimum wage, providing other sources of power, providing jobs etc).

Yet they remain Clueless.

They never bought at 145, no depot sells petrol at 145, some Nigerians are just greedy always looking for avenues to exploit and extort their fellows.

The government should have allowed the market forces of demand and supply to dictate the price. Look at diesel, prices are between N120 and N125, which are being dictated by market forces since the government has removed its hands of the process. If the government had allowed total deregulation, fuel could be sold for as low as N80 per litre.”[b]

A government removed subsidy without providing palliative and expect us to get used to the suffering.

Abeg which palliative did the past administration put in place that trickled down to the vast majority of Nigerians?

I thought the Govt signed a deal with China on Yuan to help “ease the pressure on dollar”?

This Govt is just scamming the hell out of Zombies.

The real solution is local production of crude oil.

Build new refineries now!
Re: Marketers Sell Fuel Above N145 — The PUNCH by SirdeKay: 3:02pm On May 14, 2016
We are having this problem just because our local refineries are not working. At least if they were working, there wouldn't have been any need to import refined fuel, we could have even been in a position to export both crude and refined oil.
But what continues to baffle me is that a cabal is determined to keep us importing refined oil by continually sabotaging our pipelines, flow stations, refineries etc thus preventing us from refining locally for many years now. Which means that this well-oiled cabal is benefiting massively from our continued dependence on imported fuel. This cabal has off shore refineries which would have been out of business if our local refineries were functional.
We have already seen that some of the so-called importers simply submitted bogus claims to the GEJ regime for fuel that they did not import and they were paid. This money has not been recovered. Yet, they still continue to hold the entire nation to ransom.

Even if petrol is officially N1000 a litre, Nigerians will sell above that price. That is the result of a society where impunity reigns.

alleviation will only bring respite. My hope is on the belief that the government will hand off completely leaving the economy as the determinant.

On the other hand, the government might have foreseen a cabal that will peg petrol price as it seem fit for them. Oil money is corruptible and too incomprehensible to be left without control

which was in January reduced to N86 and N86.50 from N97.

That was last year, not this year.

Are u kidding me?

Marketers wicked?

Seriously, most nigerians doesn't know how and where their problems comes from.

No1, kachikwu(petroleum minister) said the reason for fuel hike was because of full subsidy removal.

No2, osibanjo (vice president) came out yesterday to tell us that the reason for increase in price of fuel is not on subsidy, infact that there is no subsidy removal, he went on to attribute the price increase on the scarcity of foreign exchange.

No3, who do we believe amongst the two?

NNPC imports pms @ official CbN rate of 199 naira per US dollar to sell @ N145.

Other marketers does not have access to dollar @ the CbN official rate of 199, so, they source from black market @ N320 or less.

Now, how do u expect the marketers to seel @ 145 with NNPC when they bought differently?

We have not seen anything yet.

This very govt will so deal with us.

Let us not forget that FG could not curtail the excesses of these marketers when they were regulated.

Talk more of now, when the importation of pms is thrown open to everyone.

Let me say something here, this govt is mistaken, they think the excess of pms in the market will determine the market value, they are all wrong. These marketers are real businessmen, they want money, they will bring themselves together, form a union and den fix their own price on the products.

Worse case scenario, they will sanction some of them, to what gain? 50% NNPC slot will be insufficient, it will bring about scarcity of petroleum products, then those marketers will still bring out their goods and sell @ inflated prices. The masses will have no choice than to buy @ any price. If govt vex, make them go import the 100% needed and sell @ whatever price they want.

In summary, this govt are very incompetent, they are so proud that they could not do consultations b4 doing anything.

NLC, pengassan, tUC are having face off, why? because they didn't buy to the idea of the increase, but kachikwu, during his press conference, said that all stake holders were consulted, but it was all lies.

How is this news?

Petrol was sold for over 150 Naira when there was subsidy. And now subsidy is no more, you expect it to fall drastically?

Nigeria has a way of always defiling economics.
not really. you give monopoly to import and there will be hiccups no matter the policy

The insensitivity of the government is showing signs of being the worst in Nigerian history.

How else will one explain the Subsidy removal without corresponding policies to mitigate the already harsh conditions.

It sucks being a Nigerian currently

Nigerians will still adapt. Jonathan once had fuel at 141 naira which he later brought down to 97, then 87 before elections. Did anybody die?
