Fast foods restaurants are all over the country. Ranging from big to small, these outlets have over the years, become a go to place for working class individuals to get filled.

Some of these outlets are date venues for love birds.

Foods shape our health. What goes through the mouth can make or mar one's health. Foods sold at these fast food restaurants are often over-processed, containing very high quantity of calories, carbohydrates, artificial sweeteners and saturated fats.

Frequent consumption of these foods lacking in adequate nourishment can cause malnutrition. Malnutrition predisposes the body to sickness easily.

Apart from malnutrition, other dangers of fast foods overlooked by many are given below. Some of theses diseases are silent killers.

1. Diabetes

Fast foods contain large amount of sugar and carbohydrates. These increased amount of sugars in the blood increases he resistance of the body to insulin, which ultimately increases the chance of getting type 2 diabetes.

2. Obesity

Obesity in simple term means extremely overweight. Study has shown that an individual, who eats fast foods three or more times a week, is at higher risk of being obese. This is due to the high quantity of calories present in these foods.

3. Coronary Artery Disease

Fast foods often contain high amount of saturated fats. These fats, especially cholesterol, is capable of blocking blood vessels that carry blood round the body. Blockage of these vessels can cause heart attack and stroke.

4. High Blood Pressure

The high quantity of salt and seasonings used in fast foods is dangerous for the body. Elevated level of sodium chloride in the body puts an individual at higher risk of high blood pressure and heart attack.

While it is true that not everyone that eats fast food gets affected by these diseases, everyone is however at risk, whether now or in the near future.

It is advisable to eat from restaurants that serve local delicacies. Apart from being highly nutritious, these foods are cheaper when compared to those sold at fast food restaurants.
